Sometimes wandering around a fairground you can come across a part of the park where you can get a completley different but no less amusing and striking angle on what's going on. i love how the photographer has walked around and captured us looking in on the action from the outside, with the fence nicely framing the bottom third of the image. The picture is showing no faces but that glorious decisive moment when arms and legs are gleefully out-stretched as the child swings around the ride. The photorapher has framed the photo really well so as to highlight the rider centre-frame against the central column. A really good combination of composition and decisive moment. Well done!.
When you think of amusement parks you think of joy, excitement, laughter. And this of course comes from all those exhilarating fast-moving, scary rides that you go on. And how you capture this, is all about choosing that decisive moment. And this photographer has certainly captured that perfect moment, as the people in the ride hit the water at maximum speed; heads thrown back, faces at their most expressive, just as the water cascades all around them; the light catching their faces through the cloud of water droplets. A perfect capture!. Well done.
I love this picture because it captures everything about a fairground and fairground culture in one photograph. All the elements perfectly captured and arranged within the frame. In the foreground to the left, a couple embrace, giving us the joy and romance that comes with having fun at the fair. In the middle frame, the crowds relaxing on the grass enjoying that holiday atmosphere; whilst in the background a ride is in full swing throwing the riders against an interesting sky, their bodies suspended above a circus tent below. A wonderful scene.
This image is all about the spontaneous joy and excitement of fairground rides. And what better way than isolating the kids in full flight using a longer lens so as to capture their expressions; whilst using a slow shutter speed to throw out the background and reduce it to a lovely colourful abstract backdrop in order for us to concentrate on the wonderful expression of that joyous girl seemingly reaching out to grab you and pull you right into the image , so you can join her!. I also love the depiction of her little brother behind her as an abstract blur. A glorious image!
A different take on the fairground /amusement park is always good to see. Here, it's a derelict, abandoned fairground; nicely composed showing the crumpled remains of rides and stalls, against the backdrop of nature seeming to take over, occupying spaces where people used to be. In the background are the iconic structures of a helter skelter and a carousel/merry-go-round against a suitably moody thunderous sky. An arresting image.
Brightly lit Carousels and Carousel Horses are iconic features of fairgrounds and amusement parks. This photographer has done really well with emphasising these elements, using a slow shutter speed making the lights of the carousel a lovely backdrop for a beautifully sculptured horse. a really good image.
This image is almost brilliant. I love how this very close-up and rather abstract image of a fairground goer in the foreground riding the rollercoaster (backwards!) complete with flowing hair dominates the attention of the viewer. you really get a sense of fun and danger when looking at the swirling rails around her as she rides them. It would have been perfect if a rollercoaster car with screaming passengers was occupying some of the frame behind her to give it more composition and context. Never the less, a wonderful image!.
I love how this image says so much more than what you see. A very creative, beautifully composed photograph that is also telling us all about the artificial construction that is behind all our urban landscapes. The city as a giant amusement park, if you will. The way the photographer has superimposed the skyscrapers of New York City in the reflection, over the ornate horses of the carousel, with the ornate architecture and lights that overhang the cityscape. I love the way the lines of light converge on the middle horse underneath the tallest skyscraper in the centre of the frame. A photograph worthy of hanging on a gallery wall and studying. Such a wonderfully aesthetic comment on the human landscape!. A worthy winner. congratulations!.

I love how the photographer has used a long lens to compress all the elements in the frame and get rid of the perspective; giving a montage of activity all over it. The screaming, excited fairground riders going in all different directions against a complex, colourful backdrop of fairground architecture is great!. And i love that touch of humour with the toy lions bottom right entering the frame also looking like they are on a ride!. Well done!
As we know from Fairgrounds and amusement parks; it's all about movement, colour, fun, mayhem and lights; and that's what the photographer here has captured so well. Focusing on the dodgems is always a good tactic if you want to show all the fun of the fair. Here they have homed in on a dad and his son swirling around and inbetween other dodgem cars, using a flash combined with a slow shutter speed, which is known as flash-blur. this gives both the sense of movement from the slow shutter speed which is why you see streaks of light all over the image; and flash- which freezes a subject within the frame; in this case the father and son smiling excitedly and nervously as they try not to crash into someone. A really well-thought out image.
I love how the photographer has captured the atmosphere and feel of a cold winters evening at the fairground, using color and movement. The blur of the movement of both carousel and people has given it a nice abstract feel, as the punters huddle around the warm fiery red/orange glow of the carousel against the cold blue sky as if it was a giant ember!. A lovely photo.

Such is the visual excitement thrown at us by fairs and amusement parks, especially at night when the lights are switched on, that it can be difficult to know where to point your camera first. The colours, the visuals, the movement, and the fun and fear on the faces of kids and adults alike.
A wonderful, and obviously carefully constructed image. The photographer here has incorporated a glorious full moon into the frame. This has meant that he/she has obviously taken into account that by using a slow shutters speed in order to capture the moon, it has also enabled the wonderful glow of a fast-spinning neon-lit ferrous wheel as the other main attraction in this mage. But what ties it all together for me is the arrangement of the two figures highlighted in the green glow of the ferrous wheel along the bottom of the picture, alongside the other lit structures. Very clever.
This is a great visual tableau. Lots going on in this image, with lots to look at. The lovely colourful glow of a typical architectural landscape of a fairground/amusement park, right across the frame and all pin sharp. i think the starburst filter effect from the street lights works really well too. And along the bottom you have all the revellers awestruck at the light show around them as they gather, ready to enter this night time wonderland.
When you think of funfairs and fairgrounds, you think of colour and movement. This photographer has used abstract impressionism with this camera, depicting all that color and movement by standing back, looking at all the big wheels and rides and using a slow shutter speed to give that sense of mayhem and fun under all those colorful lights. A very artistic and very successful interpretation of funfairs and amusement parks at night. well done!
