An unusual, minimalist composition, which however contains enough visual information to adequately describe the subject. The curve of the main structure indicates its shape and size, and the windowed carriage tells the viewer the function of the wheel. Good use of lighting on tbe subject, and effective post-processing and conversion to black and white to create a bold and eye-catching image. Unusual but creative, congratulations on your second place finish.
What attracted me to this image is the post-processing you have used which gives the image a lovely vintage retro feel. Whether or not to include signage in a shot is not always easy, but I think its inclusion works well here, as it adds context and certainly does not distract. Great colour contrasts between the retro blues and the red of the carriages on the wheel. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.
Multi-panel images are not always popular in general contests, but here I think it works really well. The individual images show slightly different aspects of the wheel which together become stronger. A key reason for the success of the image is that each shot has been identically processed, so creating unity across the image. The black and white contrasts also draw attention to the strong shapes and lines of the subject. Being picky, I think the image could have been even stronger with perfect accuracy lining up and separating the images (bottom edge does not quite align, and uneven spacing between the other images). Great work however, well done on your top ten placing.
This image stood out for me as soon as I saw it. The composition is unusual and slightly discordant, but I think for me that is the attraction. The lighting and colouring of the image create a slightly spooky, other-worldly feel, especially with the brighter red light on one of the pods. There is just enough illumination for the subjects to be visible through the darkness, and the brighter lighting on the wheel itself has not over-exposed. Everything looks well focused, but there is a pleasing softness to the image too. An intreaguing shot, congratulations on your winning image.

This style of image may not be to everyone's taste, but here I think it has been very well done and used to good effect. One of the keys to its success is that the subject is clearly identifiable and not lost within a mass of blur. The main subject then informs the viewer as to what is visible across the rest of the frame. I especially love the dynamic sense of movement that the technique brings, a refreshing alternative to the numerous slow shutter speed images of wheels entered in the contest. The black and white processing suits the subject too. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

In this contest I would like to see your photos of Ferris wheels. Images can show any type of Ferris wheel, whether a big wheel ride at a funfair or amusement park, or the large Ferris wheels popular as tourist attractions in many cities around the world. Your photos can show a close-up detail of the structure, or the Ferris wheel within a wider setting, but either way the Ferris wheel must be the focal point or obvious feature of your image. Images can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to your entries.
Use of a telephoto lens has brought great perspective to this shot, as the compression effect seems to shorten the distance between one side of the wheel and the other. I am unsure how long you took to decide the right moment to capture this moving structure, but I like that the main pod has been positioned centrally down the frame. Excellent focus and detail across the image, from the figures in both pods to the intricate structures of the wheel and its supports. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.
Taking a trip on any wheel such as the London Eye is generally not something done frequently, so here you could have been disappointed with the positioning of the light on your "voyage". In my view however, you have taken great advantage of the situation, as by shooting into the strong sunlight you have created an image which stands out from the rest. The silhouettes are bold and sharp, both of the people and the impossibly balanced pod at the peak of the wheel. It does not matter to me that the cityscape below is not completely clear, as we can see enough to get a sense of the place and the brightness of the light adds to the mood of the shot and the spectacle for the people. The conversion to black and white has worked well too. Congratulations on your third place finish.
I sometimes wonder when I see a scene such as this what the residents of the street thought when the wheel was constructed - horror at their loss of view, or delight over the appearance of an elegant and beautiful structure. I like that you have chosen this more unusual viewpoint and moved away from the beach front a little, as it adds a whole new perspective. The relatively low key black and white works well too, and highlights the dark lines and shapes of the wheel against the brighter sky and sea. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.
Your image description tells us this is an image resurrected from an older shot, brought back to life with a new edit. It is interesting that so many images we take, even ones that were on a "discard" pile, can be seen through new eyes with fresh potential, maybe because of improved editing skills, but also due to the passage of time and changing styles and preferences. I obviously have no idea how the original looked, but this high key image is fabulous, with just enough tone to allow plenty of supurb details in the structure to be visible. Nearlly monochrome but not quite, you have done well to avoid any temptation to oversaturate the reds on the side of the pods, instead leaving quite soft and gentle tones across the image. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.
