Great contest!

Beautiful close up image of an Atlantic Puffin. The detail and color are remarkably sharp considering the distance and the high ISO. I like the red beak against the complementary green background, the contrast of the fine white feathers with the dark body and the sharp eye trimmed by red. A image that any photographer would be proud of. Congratulations on making my top ten selection.

A fine portrait that catches the attention. I like the symmetry of the hands and face framed by the flaming red hair. The camera angle slightly looking down on the subject so that her iris looking up create a large area of white under the eyes. The eyes are sharp and have a sparkle, very hypnotic. The models skin has a porcelain appearance, very pale, but not unnatural. An all-round captivating portrait. It would have been nice to have seen a title with the image. Great job, well done and congratulations on making my top ten selection.

An outstanding head shot of a golden eagle. You have captured the focal point of the eye in great detail, it looks alert and watchful. The eye position in the frame sits in the "rule of thirds position" with space in front so that it is not crowded out. Your edit is first class and I love the highlight around the beak so that it stands out from the background while the rest of the head gently recedes into the vignette The background color is excellent and enhances the flow of the image. Great job, well done and congratulations on being my number one selection.

A detailed study of an American Kestrel. With head slightly tilted she has a very quizzical look. I like the rich detail and color of the feathers. You have managed a good area of focus from the tip of the beak to the eyes afterwards falling away to a pleasant grey background. A very impressive result with this camera and lens combination. Well done and congratulations on making my top ten selection

In photography a well known mantra is lighting is everything and it is never more evident than in this image. The two side lights, that must be sourced slightly behind the head forming a perfect rim light, with various shades of tan/brown across the nose. The subjects position forms a nice symmetrical shape making an excellent 3D form. Wonderful image and congratulations on being in my top ten selection
