Garden Structures

A magnificent photo of a spectacular garden structure in the form of an arbour. You have chosen the right angle, providing a perspective through the arch to the statue and the windows at the end. The eye is led through the image by the lines in the top and the shadows on the ground. One point of interest, in the red roses on the left, moves to another in the pink roses and the statue and completed at the windows. It is hard to see the clarity and depth of field in an image of this size and I am not familiar with iPhone photography but I would suggest an aperture of around f5.6 - f7 to gain a greater clarity in an image such as this. overall, a very engaging photograph.

Photography is about capturing light and this image does that to the max. The garden structure nestled in the lake fills the brief perfectly and the image would be much poorer in its absence - it makes the photo. The park bench in the middle left also adds an element of interest. The early morning golden light and the reflections in the lake complete a very pleasing image. This photo stands out from the rest.

A very compelling image that completely captures the brief. A majestic garden structure reflected in the pond and the scene is dependent on that structure for interest. Great use of leading lines and perspective to lead the eye in. The infra-red effect highlights the grass and trees and gives the image a wintery effect. Thank you for entering such a different and technically perfect photo.

What a wonderful capture of early morning or evening light highlighting the folly at the edge of the autumn trees. A dramatic sky reflected in the lake and particularly through the arches of the bridge completes a very pleasing image. The use of an f9 aperture allows for good depth of field throughout the photo. You have brilliantly met the conditions of the brief.

What a colourful and eye catching image. I love the lines in the sequence of pergolas and the way the flowers follow this line around. The photo was clearly taken in full sun but this adds to the brightness of the flowers and the shadows in the white curtains. Your choice of an aperture of f10 allows clarity throughout the image. I would have been tempted to photoshop out the two towers in the upper left and maybe the pole between them as they detract from the clean lines of the photo. Overall a worthy top ten photo.

A couple of magnificent garden structures taken in superb light. The tranquil scene is enhanced by two pergodas and completed by the dramatic mountains in the background. The reflections in the water are pleasing but a more still morning (or evening) may have enhanced this aspect. A worthy inclusion in my top ten.
