The simplicity in this composition really caught my attention, a lost child's glove on the pavement. Perspective and angle are particularly important with these types compositions as they create emphasis and depth. There is no right and wrong with these compostions. In my view going lower adds to the compostion since you introduce more context and background. Also with these compositions you constantly wrestle with the little details like leave debris and other debris left by the wind, should I take them or not. They can add to the composition but they also can disrupt the harmony and all that will contribute to the final effect. Taking on your walks wipes and a clean large paint brush can become handy. The subject was in a colour contrasting it to the background which was more uniform contributing to the simpleness of this image. Well done.
I absolutely adored how the simple concept of "washing gloves on a washing line" was explored within this composition. Despite its minimalist approach, I was surprised on how much time I spend scanning through every little cracks on that wall and on the folds of of the gloves to finally realize that the string is of the same color as the gloves which I didn't realize immediately.. Choice of location and subject were spot on. The light was subdue hence the shadows of the subject on the wall were not competing with the subject. Also the background appeared well selected, not too many cracks in the paint and not too few but just enough to keep us sustained enough to browse around this composition. I can very well see a poster of that hanging on my white walls. Well done.
This contest had many superb entries however there can only be one winner and this shot had many ingredients in my view for a number one. Physical parameters were stop on. Natural lighting filtering throught the corridor windows created an uneven pathwork of bright and dark ares which were nothing but enhanced with the removal of colours. The fact that the glove was delicately placed on this handle adds further mystery on its identity and story. This greatly enhanced by the abcsence of poeple. But looking deeper into this composition, we are nothing but left wondering. Is this composition just about a lost glove in the city or also about modern urban lives side-effects such isolation, loneliness and/or abondement. As you see this composition left me pondering on mankind. With images the photographers have the power to centre focus and this composition is a fine example of it. Well done.
