Again, another refreshing change with regards a shot of grass There were a few images in black and white, entered into this competition but this is my favourite. It's simple, uncluttered and perfectly composed, with the low F number blurring the background very nicely. A brave choice given the subject matter - and I think it works. Well done and my thanks for your entry.

A very 'uniform' shot in composition that I found to be a nice alternative to the closer shots entered and taken with a macro lens of blades of grass with water droplets upon them.. I particularly like the curved shards of light running throughout this image and I think the depth of field you have here works very well, with the background detail nicely blurred. Well done and my thanks for your entry.

Less is more...can I just repeat that over and over? What can I say about this image that isn't evident? Simple, perfectly composed and completely uncluttered - and I particularly like the perfectly lit blade of grass to the right of the shot - lovely, and my thanks for your entry.

A beautiful shot, I must say. Whilst I have little doubt a fair amount of post-processing has gone into this photograph, the end result is fantastic. The cool green tones work really well and that overall touch of softness is just perfect, with the retention of a higher degree of sharpness and contrast reserved for the water droplet just adding to the overall appeal. It narrowly missed out on the top spot - but that said, I think it's a stunning piece of work. Well done and many thanks for your entry.

As I've said a few times before - another shot that, in my opinion, would have passed most of us by. I particularly like the way the tree trunk is lit against a rather dark background but it is of course the high contrast of the blades of grass, with that all-important degree of softness, that elevate this shot to a higher level. Simple, but - in my opinion - very effective. Well done and many thanks for your entry.

I love this shot...again - as I've said before - something that would pass most of us by I am sure. Less is more, and this fits the brief perfectly. It's simple, uncomplicated and perfectly composed.. The contrast is what elevates this shot for me and I see that a certain degree of softness has been employed within the processing which works really well in my opinion. What more can I say? Well done and many thanks for your entry.

First and foremost I will take this opportunity to thank all those who took the time to enter this competition - there have been some truly wonderful and innovative shots of one of the most simplest of subjects - grass. Onto the winning image....a shot upon which I did a double take when I first saw it. I love the cool tones of the ice and the outline of the frozen grass against the lighter backdrop. A complete and refreshing change from what some might consider the norm with regards a shot of grass. A great spot, well executed and my thanks for your entry.

Let me see your photos of grass. I do not want to see shots of a wider scene within which grass just happens to be featured, instead the grass must be the focus of your entries. Strictly no composite images. Colour or black and white, the choice is yours, but new and creative shots are favoured, so surprise me.

I've said before, I like 'different' and this image of grass is indeed different. Again, who would have thought about stopping to take the time for such a shot? I'm no expert on the art of 'cropping' but I do wonder if this image may have worked better with the top row being cropped out completely and so being left with 3 rows instead of 4? It's all down to personal taste of course, but well done - a great spot and many thanks for your entry.
