I particularly like the simplicity of this shot - less is more as they say. Quite obviously it has not been over-processed like so many other shots entered into this and most other competitions on Photocrowd - it tells it as it is in true documentary style. Well done indeed and my thanks for your entry.
Whitstable, to my mind, is one of the quintessential working English seaside harbour towns. The composition of this shot is spot on and it works particularly well in black and white. I did wonder about the blurriness of the trawlers bottom left to start with but, of course, soon realised this was down to the slow shutter speed. Very nice, and my thanks for your entry.
The more I studied this shot, the more I liked it. I particularly like the overall high contrast levels with the highlights nicely drawing attention to the side of the ship, the side of the lighthouse and - of course - the flag on the far right. Nicely observed and nicely processed too. Well done and my thanks for your entry.
A shot that struck me from the start - I love the cool washed out colours and the olde world feel about the whole scene. I also love how you've managed to frame the boats in the harbour on all sides by the harbour walls themselves - but what makes this shot stand out, of course, are the mooring ropes attached to the boats that cut horizontally across the shot. Very nice, well done, and congratulations on your 1st place.

Let me see your photos of a harbour. A harbour is an area of water next to the coast, often protected from the sea by a thick wall, where ships and boats can shelter from the elements. Please do not enter shots of boats gathered in a marina, or simply tied up alongside; entries should focus on, and clearly depict, a harbour. I very much look forward to seeing and judging your entries.
