Top photograph and almost the winner! Everything is right about this photo - framing, sharpness, exposure etc. There is a clear sense of momentum generated especially by the flowing turban. And I am particulalry impresses by your work in post - not only by the use of saturation to bring out the subject, but also the cloning out of spectators - would never have guessed!

A photo that immediately caught my eye. It is said that the best photos allow the viewer to invent their own story and this once certainly does. Beautifully shot with key elements on the 'rule of thirds'. Despite being in shade exposure is just right. Sharp. And I love the 'old and new' comparison between the horses and the tracked vehicle. Top shot and a worthy winner!
Horse racing can be far from glamorous and this photograph captures this perfectly! The bedraggled look of both horse and rider is caught perfectly and I liked the way in which the photographer has caught the driving rain as well. The apeture used is just right to bring out the subject but also to blur out what would otherwise be a distracting / mundane backgrund. Nice shot!
Some people may be surprised that this photo made it into my top ten. Let me explain - there have been several photos entered in this competition of the same subject in the same location. However - the photographer has clearly given this photo a lot of thought and moved themselves into a position to not only capture the horse in the sentry box and the one on the main square. The temptation would have been to take the the standard shot of the horse and rider in the sentry box alone. Having been to the same location many times myself, I know that to capture both horses like this is quite difficult, especially with tourists flocking around at the same time - well done!

I would like to see your best photos of horses with riders in uniform, such as military, police, re-enactors, etc. The horse's head must be in the frame as well as the rider, or will be discounted from my judging. I am looking forward to seeing your entries.

This was another unique photo in this competition - that's why it gets a commendation! I particulalry liked the contrast between the dark uniforms and the reds of the sandstone in the background. I don't know whether you've cropped the image already, but you may want to try cropping off the steps on the left of the frame, or perhaps cropping in a bit closer on the figures if the resolution is there. Great photo!
