I love this image: it says something about the day to day work involved in gardening, and at the same time, the range of colours in the hanging gloves is lovely in itself. The light in the roof panes is beautifully captured too. The plants in the background give us the context. Well done.

Fabulous image! Either you've got great timing, or you have very accommodating grandchildren. Whichever it is, this has worked really well. Using black and white helps to accentuate the details. The eye is drawn to the three central figures, but also the the indications of the gardener's work - the watering cans, for instance. Lovely.

Very interesting image. I like the softness you've captured in the light. I also like the way in which the two figures stand out vividly against both the bright foliage and the pale floor and columns/windows. There's the sense of a story here, as well as the feeling of the Temperature House itself.

This is a lovely, subtle image. I like the muted tones you've chosen here, which give a soft effect both to the background and to the reflection in the cloche. So you've really captured something about the 'feel' inside a greenhouse or conservatory, as well as hinting at the delicacy and scope of the building as a whole. Well done.

Meet the judge

This is lovely. The eye is drawn steadily through the orangery towards the bright plants at the far end. The light in the leaves is captured delicately, as are the shadows and sunlight on the walls and floor. What a peaceful image.

An interesting and original take on an angle that many people go for: I really like this. Beautiful composition, really interesting shapes and lovely light in the palm leaves. All the details are brought out sharply, but with subtlety too.

There is a lovely capture of the light coming through the misty interior, here, giving a powerful sense of the tropical glasshouse environment. Strong composition and a moment well-caught, as the visitor (or gardener?) strides away from us into the depths.

A witty approach to the topic: I really liked the way that you've brought a number of elements together here. The light coming through the glass is captured nicely, and there's plenty for the eye to explore in the image. Whether you spotted it in the moment, or set it up, it has worked very well.

This contest is for your photos taken inside a greenhouse, glasshouse or conservatory, located anywhere ranging from a small garden greenhouse to a large glasshouse in a public park or botanical garden. The image needs to show the setting even if it is a close-up of a plant or flower, using your composition to reflect the setting. Bright light in these conditions can be a challenge.

Reflections can be very hard to work with, and I felt that this image had come together really well. The reflections and the structure of the 'palacio' are nicely balanced and interesting to explore. The angle works well too, drawing the eye along the line of arched windows in particular. Lovely.

This is great: you've made excellent use of the iPhone's panorama mode, and editing in black and white helps to make the most of the beautiful curves and swirling lines. The presence of a small number of people in the picture helps too, indicating the scale of the structure. Lovely composition.
