Great contest!

This rather forlorn letterbox appears to be no longer in use, and looks to have swiveled on its fixings to now hang virtually upsidedown. I am unsure if the crumbling wall has had colour removed in editing, but whether desaturated or natural, the grey colouring allows the letterbox to stand out. The image has been well composed with the box on the bottom left third, and the wire running down the frame on the right. Simple but effective, well done on your top ten placing.

An attractive setting, well captured in challenging lighting conditions, shooting into the low sunlight. Despite being lit from behind, you have lifted the shadows adequately to enable the rather unusual design of this postbox to be easily seen. Well composed, we are close enough in for the postbox to be the main subject, but wide enough out to see the surroundings to give a good sense of place. Well done on your top ten placing.

An interesting landscape image, with the postboxes clearly the main subject, but plenty of the surroundings included to give a good sense of place. A wide-open rural landscape stretches for miles into the distance, giving no hint of the dwellings to which these postboxes belong. The large puddles on the track give additional foreground interest through the reflections of the postboxes. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

A beautiful early spring scene, of daffodils on the grass verge and a small, photogenic postbox amongst the spring flowers. Nicely composed with the postbox 'looking' into the frame, there is s good balance of foreground, subject and background, filling the frame. The red of the postbox looks true to life. Congratulations on your third place finish.

A great close-up of a couple of postboxes, filling the frame with the subject. It is often difficult to know how best to compose s shot like this but I think you have it spot-on here. All the important details that document the traditional British postbox are captured in the shot, with the decorations, shapes, features, mouldings and lettering etc. Also difficult is the ability to accurately replicate the colour red in a photo, but again the resulting colour is a true pillar-box red. The square crop works well, and although the wide digital frame is rather distracting in my view, it is still a great image. Congratulations on your second place finish.

A slightly different take on the letterbox, here we see a set of modern letterboxes in a communal space. The colours are an obvious attraction, with the bold orange contrasting with the dark grey of the light above and the letterboxes. Everything has been carefully aligned with horizontals and verticals true, which I feel is important in a more graphic shot such as this. Well done on your gop ten placing.

The primary colours first attracted me to this image. The colours are bright but not over-saturated, so very pleasing to view. The image has been well composed and framed, with the verticals and horizontals precisely aligned, and the postbox positioned on the 'third' line, with the red door of the box outlined by the white casing to draw further attention to the subject. Plenty of little details for the eye to explore and hold the interest. Congratulations on your winning image.

A chilly wintery scene, brightened by the lovely pop of red of the postbox, tethered to the post. Well composed with the postbox positioned on the thirds allows a great view of the surrounding landscape beyond and gives an idea of the rural setting of the postbox. The winter landscape has been beautifully captured, looking to be caught late in the afternoon as the winter light starts to fade, and the colouring conveys the chill perfectly. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

Although looking fairly heavily processed, the effect suits the subject and draws the eye to the main features of the postbox. A wider aperture has been used to allow the postbox to stand out from the background. A nice tight crop ensures all focus is on the subject, with no distractions. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.

A great shot of a shiny new postbox, positioned centrally in the image to ensure it is a focal point of the shot. There is plenty else going on in the frame, but somehow the postbox does not get lost. The light catching the matte metal surface helps, as despita a lack of colour on the box, the gentle gleam draws the eye. Elsewhere there is a limited colour palette of contrasting blues and yellow, which harmonise the image. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

In this contest I would like to see your photos of letterboxes and postboxes. They can be boxes used for either the sending or delivery of letters and mail. The postboxes can be in any setting and of any style, maybe traditional to your own country. The letterboxes can also be any type and in any location, such as on the front door of a house or a communal set of mailboxes in an apartment block. The postboxes and letterboxes must be the key focus of your image. Photos can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your entries.
