The blurred but visible background work well for this composition. Africa on the globe is clearly the point of focus, yet not the only place in the world, among other visible globes and adventures. When exploring, it is important to have a light in the dark that a lantern can provide. The tones and yellowing work well in balancing the image.
In this photo were dramatic colors, photographers interacting within the scene, and an angle of impact. The central alignment of the blue accent is important for balancing this composition. I appreciated many things about it, including a similar dark blue that subjects 1, 3, and 5 are wearing. Thank you for your submission!
What I liked about this photo were the playful nods to repeating color throughout. The globe is the center subject, not quite in the center, which was a great choice. A round globe contrasts with a rectangle building. The colors of blue, yellow, and white peek through the buildings and night behind. I perceived a sense of calm among busy city life. Thank you for your entry
The sepia tone is a good choice in this composition to emote vintage, time, and a Treasure Island sort of adventure with a map of our current world. Gold bounces throughout to emphasize quality and wealth. Ink blots on the letter are another important detail, suggesting hurriedness or the motion of a boat upon open waters. Thank you for your submission to my contest "Maps," and congrats on your top 10 placement.
What better photo to win top 10 of "Maps" than a pile of well organized and worn maps. The image quality was clear, the textures visible, indicating worth for the wear. The edges in alignment are satisfying and the image is best portrayed a little off center, so we do not see all edges. What a great composition. Thanks for participating in my contest and congrats on your placement!

Please enter your photos of maps and concepts related to maps. It can be literal maps such as a map imprint on a surface or a globe, or it could be more conceptual such as the map of lines on a hand, of veins, or of wrinkles related to the passing of time. If entering photos of actual maps they should be shown in context, not be just a closeup of the map. I look forward to your entries.
