Negative space

***This is a ranked contest eligible only for the top 250 photographers on the site, but who have achieved 3 contest results in the past 12 weeks.*** The ‘negative space’ of a photo is the area that surrounds the ‘positive space’ (aka the main subject of the image). Composing a photo with the right balance of negative space is a clever way to create an image with a powerful and emotive simplicity, the key being to allow the main subject enough space to breathe and not cluttering the negative space with too much else.
