'Intriguing' was the first thought I had after having first looked at this image. On closer inspection I began to appreciate what constituted 'neglect' within this shot. I particularly like the simplistic composition along with the warm colours - which work rather well with the overall portrait format and the soft focussing you have utilised here.. Well done and many thanks for your entry.
Firstly, I must thank all those who took the time to enter this competition - it has been interesting on occasion to see how the brief was interpreted.....and onto the winning image...this shot caught my eye the moment I saw it. Admittedly, I was a little surprised with the lack of an animal and human element with regards the entries, but this shot was always going to be in the top 10. Unfortunately - in this case - it screams neglect...and all summed up in that very sad expression and the dog's overall scruffy and unkempt appearance. Lovely shot, but in the most saddest of circumstances. Well done for this capture and my congratulations on 1st place.

Another image I knew would be in my top 10 as soon as I saw it. Although the theme suggests an element of neglect here, it might not be the case. That said, the ramshackle nature of the horses shelter, along with their gaze in the direction of the photographer all come together to make a rather striking picture. Well done and many thanks for your entry.

Let me see your photos that are your interpretation of the word 'neglected'. Anything goes, but strictly no composite images. I very much look forward to seeing what you can come up with.
A view I know pretty well - having been here myself a number of times in a previous life shall we say. I think the B&W processing works particularly well here and the I also like the composition, giving an overall moody atmosphere. It would have been interesting to see this shot in colour but, knowing the area as I do, B&W does it perfect justice. Many thanks for your entry.
"Neglect' is an obvious word that runs right through this shot...but what I particularly like is the juxtaposition afforded between the boat - that has seen far better days - and the rather expensive looking yachts in the distance, which are quite obviously looked after. There are many similar scenes such as this along the coast where I live and so I am all to appreciative of what is going on here. Many thanks for your entry.
