Nightscapes

I doubt this famous mountain and waterfall needs any introduction as every landscaper on the planet must have seen it and wish to shoot it (Kirkjufellsfoss and Kirkjufell). Excellent composition, the image would have come higher if there was more description available as it looks like a composite.

Excellent use of the classic light trail technique and well-composed overall image of St Paul's cathedral. Nice exposure throughout the scene and clever use of the light trails at such a high angle as if over the image viewer's head.

An absolutely classic photography location, and a personal favourite. This has become an iconic nightscape location and looking at this excellent image you can see why. The scene has everything to keep the viewer intrigued, rugged mountains, Milky Way and the glowing Rifugio A.Locatelli (Dreizinnenhütte), well done.

I kept coming back to this image as without the people the scene does not really have to much to pull the viewer back in, but using the bike with the people really gives it a nice atmosphere and sense of scale

Very well-put-together panorama of the Milky Way Galaxy handling light pollution well and also picking up some airglow. Brilliant foreground interest and the person provides excellent scale to complement the landscape leading the viewer into night sky and Milky Way arch

Perfect nightscape providing mystery and thought provocation as the highway seemingly vanishes into thin air through a layer of dense fog, composition is excellent and the exposure perfect; just a shame there is not a little more written about the image in the description.

Stunning image with great, well-balanced exposure. The fog shrouding the city keeps the viewer coming back over and over as it reveals the high rises then when you look further you can still make out the smaller buildings and trees.

Perfectly exposed nightscape at one of the best times of the day for nightscape photography. The blue hour at either end of the day provides the best light to capture cityscapes when undertaking cityscape night photography, here still picking out the colours from sunrise or set and the crescent moon. Shame no image info.

Such mood and impact created within the piece of work. Its very clever use of light against the fog and silhouettes the trees and person so well creating depth and mystery within the image. The tones broken only by the flashlight are also very well balanced.

Very moody and ethereal, captures the scene very well and also creates and old-world feel alongside a very atmospheric image. Great use of composition and I had to go back for another look and change this one from highly commended to gain a place within the top 10.

Very nice image of the historic Shambles in York city. Nice exposure and very good composition of the old street and medieval buildings. Definitely an image that takes the viewer on a journey down the lane and through the passage of time, at night!!

Beautiful piece of work, the classic scene within Mostar and composed and exposed very well, great use of artificial light and blue hour. If only there was a top 15 and not 10 as this would be in there as it's a stunning shot.

Very clever use of lines, shapes, light and patterns, and materials to create an image that keeps you going back for a second look. Excellent architectural nightscape with brilliant composition and exposure techniques implemented within the photographer's piece of work

Great monotone image and is quite intriguing as to what is going on and draws you back for another look to realise the lights create the pattern. This image would have done better within the competition had it had at leat a small amount of information about it from the creator.
