While this would probably not traditionally be considered an observation or radio tower I felt I had to include it in the top ten due tp the terrific framing and beautiful composition, capturing the humans in jus the right spot. This is a popular subject but this low wide angle night photo gives it an entirely new way of looking at it. Very beautifully done.

This photo perfectly captures the feeling of heat in a desert sunset but more than that it is a wonderful geometric composition. The cropping puts the sun and the control tower either side of the center and the globe on top of the tower plays off the sphere of the sun. Beautiful.

I believe this was the longest exposure entered and the effect of the moving clouds reflecting both the lighting of the tower and presumably surrounding lighting it marvelous. There is no trace of shake and the towers sharpness plays off the background, both of which has metallic but different appearances. There is an otherwordly feel here as if it were on another planet. Very impressive.

One of the more minimalist entries, I really loved this vertical wide angle shot for the interplay of the angle shape with the tower, whose shape is primarily a circle and an oblong in the photo. It almost appears to be a modern abstract painting. The sharp focus along with the gradient from the sun off of the top left add a contrast between the hardness of the foreground object and the metallic smoothness of the clear sky. Congratulations.

This telephoto length is a stunning example of the effect of hot air on light and optics. It's a perfect timing of the aircraft passing the tower to produce an amazing effect as if it were painted. Beautiful shot.

This was the only entry of this amazing structure from Central Asia. It is a terrific skyline sunset shot with the unusual tower dominating the centre of the photo. I also love the capture of the gradient colours in the sky and the hint of reflected sun off of one of the skyscrapers. Very well done.

Terrific perspective illusion shot of the statue appearing to support the tower, with just enough separation to avoid making it look as if it were composited. Good use of black and white here as I think colour would have lost the effect. Nice shot.

A fun nighttime shot with a slightly long exposure giving a softness to the sky in the background. I love the little figures climbing the tower and the position from underneath allows the lower lighting to show in full and a significant part of the upper lighting to be visible. Thus it become a colour study in two shades of blue along with the yellow. Very nice.

There were many entries of this object but I preferred this capture from directly below the most. The colours make this a study in blue and white, with the midnight blue of the advertising setting off an ultramarine sky. The positioning emphasizes the height as well as giving an alternative geometric feel the curved portion. Nice cirrus clouds as well.

Show me your photos of structures built specifically as observation towers or as combined observation and radio towers, which do not have occupied floors all the way up their height. Examples are the CN Tower in Toronto, the Tokyo Skytree, the Berliner Fernsehturm TV tower and the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Colour or black and white photos are welcome.
