I adore this frame. The sunshine moves across the skin so delicately and offers rich detail in what is a soft moment. The stillness of the mind matches the stillness of the water and the droplets hang paused in the moment. Hope this is on your wall!

Such a great moment. This one made me smile as it is so full of character. You can almost hear her voice booming down from the high ground and see the wind moving her robes. I also like lamp posts filling that dead grey space. and gives the frame a place in time as if she has been brought to the future.

Beautiful coloures from the sky as they wrap around the subject. The form of the person in meditation is both sharp and soft at the same time. Would have loved to have seen more of the supporting leg placing her more centrally but can't argue that it doesn't work. Delicate and defused with a sense of calm.

I like being shown photos that have a sense of timelessness. If it weren't for the background this could be from any point, but the industrial background gives such a contemporary feel that it brings the photo even more to life. It's a bit of a time machine that shows even though everything changes, nothing really changes.

This is a great documentary style image of a look in to someones life. It offers insight in to duty and faith, regardless of time or location and forces us to understand the importance of the person's beliefs. The industrial clean lines and surfaces contrast the natural texture of the person at prayer.

This is such an evocative moment and has authenticity in droves. Gentle and with meaning, is what comes across. The balance of the frame itself is fantastic and the golden shades switch contrasts through the horizon lines very well indeed. Great photo.

To witness those at the Wailing Wall may seem a little odd at first. A little alien, almost. The fast and repetitive bows and movements that are shared by many religions during prayer in order to put the committed into a state of particular brainwave frequency. Their words getting louder and louder as they read their texts. I would argue this photo represents that moment accurately and artfully. Good job.

An absolute painting of a photograph. The texture and light look like oil on canvass to me and the colours are balanced fantastically! There is such quiet to it and you can almost smell the room and feel the carpet beneath your feet. I chose this photograph for first place as the moment feels genuine and candid. Taking a photograph is exactly as it sounds. We are taking from the person and the moment. We are intruding, but not rudely. Great job.

The movement here is what brings this lovely moment to life. It puts us in the room with the women well and I would argue you can almost hear the sounds. The grain is just right for the contrast in the frame. Great camera control all round.

What more could you ask for. Perfectly on brief but tells more than a simple story of being at prayer or meditation. To commit and be a scholar at a school that never actually graduates. A dedication of a lifetime itself. Beautifully evocative in all aspects of the moment. Delicious light and haze. Great photo.

A beautiful frame which deserved to be in the top ten, but we can only have so many! I adore frame filled reflections and the fact that the choice of focus has been made on the stone rather than the subject was the right decision. Lovely warmth and contrast that arguably makes us wonder what is on the other side.

Another great silhouette here. The light is subtle and diffused in the source and gives a lovely a sense that the person is bathing in the moment. Just enough detail is highlighted and falls away into the shadows of that wide expanse. I little too much burning but it works well here.

Beautiful framing and lines going on here. The light is just right showing careful attention to the exposure levels. The shadow of the gentleman kneeling while he prays was obviously the goal here and the effort of framing from above has paid off well. Well done.

It was so difficult to find the right ranking for this photo. It moved back and forth a lot. I love the fact that the darkness has no regard for the frame and I almost hope that it's a very close crop. Would be wonderful to see this as a huge print. The lace like way the darkness is draped across the person at prayer is just right. A lovely example of light showing off in the moment.

What a stunning silhouette! The backlight outlines the lady so delicately almost as if she's held softly in the air. Her feet raised and legs draped in equally delicate clothing. The light then slowly spills across the interior of the room and gives warmth to the cold marble and wood. The lovely hints of colour coming from the flames and glass are just enough.

Common to all religions is time spent either in quiet personal communion with, and appeal to, one’s God, or in meditation, seeking to still the workings of the mind and experience one’s consciousness more simply. Photographing people in these private acts of devotion and contemplation is not always easy, but creates powerful imagery that reminds us of the importance of religion to so many in the world.
