Shadows

This is such a well seen subject and the skill is making this work photographically. The photographer has controlled the bright light really well, just making sure the sunlight is blocked by the trees, this has created and made the image. The shadow cast is wonderful and really turns this picture of a statue into a greater image with a strong narrative. The way the statue is now staring and almost attacking its shadow is wonderful. Great technique to keep so much detail in the sculpture. A clever and darkly fun photograph. Well done.

This could be a film still from a classic horror movie.. Attack of the spider. The elevated camera position and use of high contrast black and white has really emphasized the abstract shapes and shadows and heightened the tension in this scene. The added spay of the waves coming over onto the pathway along with the silhouetted spider are perfectly timed and really give this a surreal feel. The composition and exposure are very well controlled and seen. It's just lovely. One of my favorite images in a long time. Stunning. Well done

Such a unique photograph. Certainly one of the best abstract images I have ever seen. The high contrast is appropriate and turns the shadows into almost matchstick people. The timing of the image is perfect with not one person and their shadow hitting another so we get to see these incredible shapes working in unison in this elevated capture. The use of black and white adds an additional abstract quality to the picture and this is a fantastic and ultra modern interpretation of what an abstract image but also what a sports photograph can be. It is sublime.. Superb.
