Shooting things up-close (you can call it macro photography if you want, although this also comes with <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macro_photography">quite a specific definition regarding the size of the subject</a>) opens up whole worlds that you and those looking at your images might not have considered before. If you’re itching to get closer to your subject, and your current lens just isn’t doing it for you, then spending money on a macro lens, or spending quite a lot less on an extension tube or a macro filter, will give you the satisfaction of getting close enough to bring out those details you just don’t normally see. Any subject is allowed in this contest, and we’re not sticking to that definition of ‘macro’, in case you were wondering.
