An unusual viewpoint and something different form anything else in the competition. The blue and gold tones work well together and it is an engaging image that leaves me wanting to see more. Perhaps a viewpoint slightly to the left would have given separation between the chain and the hull and made the composition a bit stronger.
This is a fabulous composition that works very well. The layout of the racquets and the balls being central add a graphic element which stands out and is quite different from the other entries in this competition. This image may have challenged for the top ten if it wasn't for the the loss of detail in the balls where the lighting has been to bright.
Fabulous viewpoint and the shadows add a different element to the picture. The composition, colours and content are all good and help create a really strong image. If the players had been in action this may have really taken this picture up to another level. the player on the left is casting a better shadow than the player on the right, whereas you can see the racquet clearly defined.
This is a classic example of a photographer with a good eye for an image. This picture is something most people would overlook, but this photographer has seen the composition, colours, textures and elements and was able to create this image. The warm tones of the image blend well with the staining on the back board.
Showing parts of the equipment like this is unusual and works well. It isn't always necessary to see the equipment in its entirety, and although we can only see parts, the viewer knows exactly what the equipment is. the colours and tones work well and the well used wear on the racquets add a uniqueness to the image.
A striking picture with its simplicity being its strength. The monochrome conversion works well and the inclusion of the person for scale offers an indication of the size of the area. The scattered balls add a randomness to an orderly image. The shadows add a 3D element to the image and depth to what is a 2D medium.
An intriguing picture that not only shows the goals, but gives a a narrative to the surroundings of the area where the gaol is situated. The buildings in the background look inactive, as does the goals, and I wonder whether there is a connection between the two. Good composition and the monochrome suits the subject well. A well seen image.
This image demonstrates that it isn't what we see, it is how we see it as photographers. Good composition, and clever use of the reflection of the hoop in juxtaposition with the court markings. The composition is good and cropping of the elements works well. Would the inclusion of a ball have added the final element?
