Of all the entries in this category, I kept coming back to this image as my favorite representation of the contest. Although the color is very pleasing to the eye, the levels of penetration of paint into the wood intensifies the texture overall. The image as a whole is beautifully simplistic, and the intricate, abstract lines draw the eye closer to inspect the raised surfaces of the painted wood texture. Congratulations to the photographer for capturing a winning image.

Implied in the title is that this image is the roof of a giant underground cavern. But, it could just as easily be a close-up shot of a rock. Either way, this is a prime example of many textural details in one frame. Not only is the texture abstract, so are the lines and curves, which enhances the overall appearance. Great shot!

These mushrooms look as though they have been dipped in gold. The texture takes on an 'other-worldly' look from the viewpoint the photographer has taken. Even though mushrooms are soft to the touch, this texture looks like many sheets of paper folded and layered together to create their structure. Well done to the photographer for capturing this unique look at what makes up a mushroom.

For this contest, I would like to see your best photos of textures which fill the frame. Images can show wood, metal, feathers, dirt or any other object where textures can be found. Please enter only photos of textures that can be felt with the hands (not patterns for the eyes) and that fill the frame of the photo from edge to edge. Entries can be in colour or black and white.
