**This contest is open to photographers ranked 1001+ in this week’s <a href="https://www.photocrowd.com/photographer-community/">Leaderboard</a>.** A contest theme that lends itself well to close-up photography, but not exclusively. Paying attention to the textures of the objects and surfaces around us, we can also observe the way that differing types and directions of light bring out those textures to the best effect. A hard light at the right angle will emphasise a texture, whilst a soft, diffuse light will fill in the texture and make it less obvious. Whilst everything in the world has a texture of some kind, please ensure that the focus of your image is on a specific texture, and belongs in the contest.
