I’ve selected this image for its originality. A bit of creative thinking has produced a capital ‘E’ from some envelopes with an imaginative title. I cannot imagine such a composition fitting the brief of any other contest, so I would like to thank you for making a special effort here. Thinking ‘outside the box’ is a good way to be noticed and it worked.
Typewriters are becoming a distant memory, having been overtaken by the digital age, so there should be little surprise that there were no other entries like this. The clever mirroring of the key helps make it clear that the letter to be imprinted is what it is, whilst the remaining visible keys disappear in a wonderful bokeh of bronze tones. Thank you so much for taking the trouble to create this different image. Like the key, the image has impact. So much so, that it gains my first placing. Well done, indeed!

This stunning image invites curiosity. I’m wondering where the worker is suspended from and how they control their position. Also what they are ‘up’ to. There is an interesting collection of equipment and materials hanging from their belt and I’m wondering if one may even contain refreshments as they could be up there for some time…

I invite you to submit your photos in which the letter ‘E’ is the prime subject. Other letters may be present and the letter may be upper or lower case, with or without an accent, and in any amount. 'E’ is the most commonly used letter in the English language, so there ought to be plenty of examples to be found. I am not looking for subjects that begin with the letter 'E', such as an eagle or an eye, rather photos of the letter 'E' itself. I do not want to limit your imagination, however, the letter 'E' could be in the written or printed form or created from a montage of photographic elements. Just make sure that it looks like an ‘E’ and is the main focus. I hope you enjoy this contest and can draw attention to your image by being creative.
There is a story to tell here and I assume that it is of an old enamelled ‘Shell’ sign that has since become the target of a firearm. The striking colours were chosen to make this sign stand out and that still works and the ‘patina of life’ adds extra interest to a subject that meets the brief well. Such a shame that the contributor could not come up with a title for it.
