I think that this is a very strong frame: graphic but also strangely emotional. Compositionally, it works as all the elements are harmoniously placed - and well done waiting for the sun/shadow. For me however, it's the clever compression of distance with the long lens that concentrates our attention to the symbolism of the cross and the delicacy - and rather poignant damage - to the sculpture. Excellent.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 1 and 250 in this week’s Leaderboard.** Grave markers in the form of tombstones, headstones and gravestones range from the simple and understated, to the ornate and exuberant. Graveyards and cemeteries are special places, and popular for photographers too. They have a feel all of their own - quiet, contemplative spaces where past lives are all around us, honoured in stone and words. The challenge for the photographer can be in producing imagery that is original, given how familiar we are with them.

This is nicely done. Although I can see that this is shot on a 'phone (the best camera is the one you have with you...) there's a decent overall exposure overall - likely helped by the dull light. The thing that stands out is the fallen cross leading our eye into the rest of the churchyard. The frost on the stone adds a nice touch. Well done.

I thought this very nicely done and it works because rather than treating the image architecturally, this is almost a portrait that is compositionally well-balanced. I like the exposure and I like the space that the figure of the angel is afforded with particularly the red flowers adding a colourful 'pop' to the frame.
