Umbrellas

Wow wow wow. This is one of those rare images that tells a story, as well as causes the viewer to interpret some of that story for themselves. The umbrellas play a background role, though still a major part to the story. The contrast in facial expressions of the two individuals in the foreground are examples of the mood we can feel when under the protection of an umbrella. This is a very very good image. Well done.

This image really does have it all. A well timed and well composed image. Not only does it feature one really cool umbrella, but the fact that it’s polka dot and matches those on the windows either side is genius. The subtle reflections from the wet ground and the raindrops really makes this one my favourite.

There is so much to love about this scene, which has been wisely converted to Black & White. The mood and atmosphere behind the lady is incredible. The light between the pillars are of suspense, especially with that silhouette of the person walking away. Then, you have this lady coming out of the shadows, searching through her bag with her face hidden by an already erected umbrella. A tool for privacy as well as protection from the rain?! The pattern of the umbrella and almost silvery tone really pop.

There’s so many beautiful patterns and lines, lighting and shadows that keeps you engage throughout the entire image. Simply put, this is a Masterpiece!

This scene, wonderful captured, is the perfect example of our dependence on the humble umbrella when caught in a heavy downpour. Fantastic that it’s in Black & White, with the correct settings required to capture the rain drops. I also like that the two sets of people (foreground pair and background pair) each have matching umbrellas.

This is a fine example of a well thought out image. The composition is spot on. Just enough grass along the top, which helps identify the scene from this minimalist approach. The line of umbrellas with mixed shapes, each casting their own shadow, whilst shot from an angle rarely seen. Something different and I like it a lot. Bravo

This image shows another use of the umbrella, which is for shade. The warmth of the sun through the trees, along with the wonderful composition of these two individuals and hint of haze really combines to really make this image stand out. Well done

Fantastic image. The central figure is wonderfully framed by the indoor architecture. Minimalist approach, yet very striking. The deep red/burgundy pops from this mainly white scene, ant the umbrella here, is almost like a hat (fashion piece). This is as good as it gets.

This is a brilliant composition, with that green umbrella perfectly placed to pop from the scene. The colours all work together, with the door slightly offset which helps bring the umbrella to the viewers attention. And though the umbrella is not the main focus, it's inclusion is vital to making this whole image interesting. I really like it. Great work.

I absolutely love how the umbrella takes centre stage here! Great sharpness on the foreground subject, which helps maintain attention on what this is all about. The moody tones of the environment are offset by the punchy yellow from the umbrella and wellies (and even better that the blue segment of the umbrella is in-line with the yellow wellies to maintain that pattern of yellow-blue-yellow-blue.....).

I really love this shot, as it simply tells a story a young child having fun in the most purest form. All the while, protected from the elements. Kudos!

This is a wonderfully composed image, from an unusual angle. I love the two states of umbrella (open/closed), in-line, and of course that punchy pink which brightens up a soggy scene. The reflection from the wet ground also adds to the overall picture. Brilliant.
