Great contest!

The competition brief lends itself well to abstract interpretation and this was the best example. The inversion is not contrived and does present an intriguing view. Sharp and accurate exposure throughout the range of highs and shadows, and the wide lens was an apt and effective choice - we feel as if we are right there under the bridge. Thank you for pleasuring us!

I highly commend your image for its near-abstract layering, processing and general aesthetic. Arresting framing with progressive layers of interest from sand to cloud. Excellent illusion of the sea being supported by the bridge Unique . The only 'however' is that this image does not fuflil the brief of the competition which requires that the main thrust of the image be 'under a bridge'. I couldn't resist commending it, though!

Thank you for entering with such an evocative image. I was motivated to launch this competition having recently captured a cyclist under a bridge! You have formed the underside of the bridge into a sky and maintained sufficient detail in highlights and shadows. Although the wall right is blacked out, it adds to the overall effect of the image which successfully crosses over from detail to abstract. The subject is successfully rim-lighted. Thank you!

Dear LS Lowry, Your abstract urban painting landscapes always impress. Exposing high to achieve that 'matchstick men' look is your trademark. Your framing is wonderful, especially with that mid-frame orange jacket acting as a centre of gravity. The flow through the flame is near-complete, although I would have suggested painting out those barriers and the steps back right. Keep on painting!

Oh wow! Your wide lens brings us right with you under the bridge. Clever framing sharing with us the context of the near and far coastline. Apt and effective styling in the sea and sky with your slow speed, and although it is a dark and nearly sombre image, the sunshine in the horizon lifts the whole frame. Lovely crossover between documentary and abstract. Thank you for sharing!
