Urban Geometry in Black and White

I appreciate this image because of its mood. The three figures at the tunnel's end, turned into dark silhouettes by the backlight, evoke a sense of mystery. The tunnel seems to lead into their world. The lighting effectively highlights the figures, making them stand out. My only critique is that the exit light is slightly too intense, nearly overshadowing the people. Nevertheless, I like how it portrays the transition from darkness into light.

The moment is beautifully captured in this picture: a guard passing by, dwarfed by the sweeping architecture around him. The black-and-white works perfectly, enhancing contrast and adding just the right touch of drama. What strikes me most is the sense of scale. The buildings feel majestic and commanding, while the guard’s small figure grounds the scene in a quiet, human way. It’s an image that captures both wonder and presence, simple yet powerful.

I really enjoy this picture because it feels so familiar and human. The image of a man walking his dog near the bridge at night evokes quiet, everyday moments we often miss. It looks like it is a very cloudy and misty day. The street lamps are especially interesting for how they shine like little stars, adding to the scene with a soft glow. The black-and-white palette amplifies the mood, making the simple scene of a walk feel peaceful, slightly lonely, yet beautiful. This is what I wanted from this competition: showing how something ordinary can look so full of emotions.

This picture is very well executed. The black-and-white tone works beautifully, and the lines of the zebra crossing provide a clean, geometric balance. Everything feels sharp and precise. Still, although it’s technically strong, it lacks a bit of originality for me. It appears more like a perfect exercise in composition than a moment that genuinely surprises or moves.
