What a fun photograph! I love seeing the effects of the wind on this commuter’s tie, clothing, and hair. It’s also nice to see his face and expression. In photographs of hiking/wandering, it’s common to focus on the surrounding environment, so I appreciate seeing a bit more of the human experience. Great job!

I love the use of perspective here and the way you have captured the women’s shadows! Viewers can really get a sense of their interactions by looking at these and the gesticulations they capture - something that would not have been feasible at eye level. Very creative and well done!

Great uses of silhouettes here! They allow us to see the multiple different storylines unfolding among the people climbing the hill: one person is carefully balancing hiking poles as they ascend, another couple is taking a selfie, and several others gaze out at the gorgeous sunset. Wonderful job!

What a striking image! The reflections here are particularly intriguing, as is the way the figures gradually disappear into the hazy mist of the shore. It feels a bit otherworldly as a result. Nice color palette and composition, as well. Great job!

I enjoyed seeing this image in the mix; I think it was one of the only photographs of someone climbing a structure, a different kind of rambling/wandering. I really enjoy the perspective here, which helps convey scale, and I feel like I am looking through a telescope of sorts. Well done!

I love the creative framing of this photograph. Great job using a window to channel our attention to the focus of the image. Also, the level of detail and layers of caked snow on the window frame are a great addition; they help me appreciate the frigid temperatures the skiers and snowboarders are experiencing. Well done!

I appreciate the attention this photo calls to form. Because this is a silhouette and we are unable to see the details of the person’s face or climbing gear, we can focus on the physical strength and bodily contortions necessary to climb like this. I also like the perspective and framing. Great job!

For me, this photo captures the peace and quiet beauty of an autumn walk in the woods, and I’m envious of the person who gets to experience it! I really appreciate the sunburst, the warm color palette, and the use of the silhouette. Well done.

I appreciate the creative approach this image takes to the subject matter. The layering of multiple exposures really helps convey the motion and physicality of hiking, walking, and rambling. I also appreciate the eerie effect it is having on the landscape depicted here. Great job!

I love seeing this tiny burst of color in an otherwise bleak, snowy scene! Great job capturing the moment and this contrast. I appreciate the wide perspective and high depth of field here, which help convey important detail and a sense of place. Great job!

I love the sense of scale in this photograph; the hikers are absolutely dwarfed by the massive landscape around them. Great job incorporating geometric elements into the frame as well. I love the parabolic curve that cuts through the center of the frame. Well done!

I love the aerial perspective of this photograph and the way the road disappears - both beneath the sand and into the haze of the horizon. Where will the road take this wanderer? The color palette of the photo is lovely as well; the cool hues of the person’s shirt and the warmth of the overall image balance each other well. Great job!

All words referring to the same stripped-back pastime of pulling on your boots, packing a sandwich and (usually) enjoying the exploration of our world’s natural spaces by foot. As an antidote to our electronic and often desk-bound existences, it can’t be beaten. Images submitted must show people who are actually doing some hiking, rather than simply be shots taken whilst you were out hiking. Mountaineering shots are fine, but at the point at which ropes and harnesses feature, we might be straining the brief a little.

I love the silhouettes of the dead trees here and how they frame the person against a richly colored background. I’ve seen photos of this dead forest before, but none that use the trees as a framing device, so I appreciate this different kind of approach. Well done!

This is such a neat image! Great use of long exposure and lighting sources. The cracked pattern of the Salt Flats and their illuminated edges are particularly eerie and intriguing. The overall photograph definitely has an otherworldly quality to it - fitting, given the title and the figure’s apparent search for a galaxy. Great job!

What a lovely pastoral scene! I especially enjoy the seeming juxtaposition between the mule drivers and the sleek, modern-looking wind turbines. Nice and peaceful color palette, too, and I love how the line of horses and people cuts diagonally through the frame. Well done!

What a lovely image! The primary color palette is really what caught my eye: there is something about the combination of red, blue, and yellow that is just very visually pleasing. I particularly like the pop of red in the middle of the frame. Great composition as well. Well done!
