This is such a beautifully arranged and considered photograph. It has been made rather than just taken. The use of the low camera angle leads our eye to the main area of interest, once we arrive at that point we have these lovely elements working for each other. The Ferris wheel on the left hand side, the wonderful blue dome in the center then this amazing white cloud hanging over them. What makes it really work are the deep saturated tones throughout the whole image which is very contemporary at the moment but also has that 1950s postcard feel. The deep blue of the sky really makes the whole picture pop out. Just lovely. Well done. It would also work really well large as it could take the grain/noise very well given the composition. Great picture.

This photograph really stood out from the crowd. So few portraits and this is a cracker of an environmental portrait show casing this person and what they do. The scale is perfect with the placement of the worker against all the wheel trims and the highlights work so well against the shadow details. The square format of the framing means that the whole scene gets condensed which works well given the subject matter. The use of black and white allows us to really focus on the image and details. A classic portrait of a person at work. Would make a wonderful series. Well done.

The text that goes with this photograph talks about a fathers car, about memories. So the photographer is the son. He may now own the car. This is not revealed but it does help us understand the photograph and how to read it. The boot open suggests the car could be just left in this space. What I do love about this image is that it echos the great American road trip especially the color photographs by William Eggleston, one of the pioneers of color photography. The framing is perfect with the tree really framing the car. Very little color except for the warm golden tones on the car itself in what appears to be a rural setting. A classic car and a classsic scene that does echo American photography from a certain period. Well done

Well they invented the wheel, for one, although it’s a matter of some debate exactly where and when that happened. A few thousand years down the line, you won’t have trouble finding a wheel of some kind or another wherever you look. There are no restrictions on the types of wheels you can enter into this contest, and you can even go looking for toothed wheels in the form of cogs.
