There were a few entries in this contest of this ceiling, but I really like the light airiness this shot has, along with the boosted colours, which have not been over-saturated, but give a different dimension. Well composed with the upper circular section well centred in the frame. The exposure has been well handled, as the highlights are not too bright, so enabling the eye to be drawn to the lines and diamond patterns of the framwork, rather than the lightness beyond. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.
This image looks to have been captured with the camera pressed against the wall of the mosque, pointing directly upwards, which gives an interesting and abstract perspective, and also shows some of the beautiful designs and intricate details. There is enough of the structure included in the frame to get a sense of the place, but still retains an abstract look. Well composed, with the little aqua column details central to the shot. Well done on your top ten placing.
I cannot help be drawn by the bright and contrasting colours on this structure, but the image has also been well captured, with a great diagonal composition, and well focused on the crisp clean lines. Lighting is good, as it has flattened the scene slightly (in a good way) but there are still some contrasts to show some depth to avoid the image looking like a computer generated graphic. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.
Photos of spiral stair cases are often rather clichéd, but as an architectural abstract this works really well. The simple colour combination of bright yellow and varying shades of grey is both bold and adds to the simplicity of the composition, as the yellow spiral diminishing upwards into the frame stands out well against the grey. Well lit with good crisp focusing throughout. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.
A contest for abstract architecture will be generally dominated by modern designs with clean lines, bold colours and quirky shapes. Therefore this image stood out for being different, and once it had my attention it rose up my placings to the top spot. Well composed and framed, all verticals and uprights are true, which I think is important in an image such as this, and the windows and downpipes have been suitably positioned in a symmetrical way to ensure the image has a strong abstract element. The viewer can either look at the image as a pure documentry of the architecture, or instead as an image of lines, shapes and patterns. Plentry of interesting details for the eye to explore too. Congratulations on your winning image.

This image looks to be of a rather mundane looking structure, and may not be to everyones taste, but it is a well executed image and deserves to be placed. In some ways it deserves extra praise as the photographer was able to see the potential in a duller more ordinary structure, rather than be dazzled by the bright colours and modern designs of some other architecture. The main structures of the shot run across the frame on opposing diagonals, which works well, as does the conversion to black and white. Everything is well focused revealing plenty of little details on the surfaces too. Well done on your top ten placing.

I would not usually be drawn to an image like this, as it has a hyper-real look, but in an abstract architecture contest it is just the sort of thing I was looking for. Very well composed and (presumably) adjusted in image editing to perfectly square-up the lines, which increases the impact of the shot and adds to the abstract and shape/pattern element of the image. The colours are bright and bold, with contrasting blue and oranges, again adding impact. As an architectural subject, there are plenty of details to enjoy too, such as the patterns on the walls and the differently angled window shutters. Congratulations on your second place finish.
This is just the type of image I was looking for, where there is both a strong architectural element and a strong abstract too. The design of the apartment block is abstract, but the way the image has been composed, framed and edited ensures that abstract look is maximised, with strong verticals and horizontals, and the main vertical running down the frame completely centrally. Good colour contrasts between the cool blues and warmer yellows complete a successful image. Well done on your top ten placing.
I am not generally a fan of mages which have been flipped and mirrored, but obviously in a contest for abstracts it is different, and this image really appeals to me. Whilst much of the impact comes from the flip, the photographer has still shown skill in the execution of both the capture and image manipulation, and the recognition of the shapes and patterns and the potential for the image. The simple colour combination adds to the shot, with the strong and bold lines and zig-zag along the top standing out well against the lighter tones. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

This contest is for your architectural abstract photos. The subject must be an architectural structure or building, which has either been photographed in a creative abstract way, or through its architectural design can be viewed as an abstract structure. You could also apply abstract effects in post-processing using image editing software. Your image must show architecture in an abstract way, and especially if an abstract effect has been added in image editing, it must be clear that the original photo was an architectural subject. Images can be in black and white or colour. I look forward to your entries.
