I was absolutely captivated by take of Berlin's Stadium. There was not only a simplicity you could detect but you could sense that something majestic behind those pillars. The alignment of object consisted of the series of lights fixtures on each columns first then the ceiling lights. These objects series were further enhanced by the pillars and shadows which were in a sort of synchrony. It was striking that the light related objects were dark and that the light source inundating this composition came from behind behind the objects of interest. All these elements created a mystery about this place. Only read later the small text only to realise the importance of this building in our history. This capture has given this building the attention it deserves. I can only congratulate the eyes that captured this moment.
Well done to my second choice. I found this line up of wrestling figures so surreal and humorous. You could just image the exchanges of words that could emerge in such a line up - "oi, red head get back in line.." "stop poking me..." Although you could think that there is an overwhelming busyness in this composition but by lighting our focus was solely maintained on the first row of figurines. Showing the figurines from the side barely seeing their faces and with the light source coming from the opposite direction highlighting the back of their head, draws one's focus onto their hair creating an artificial line maintained and repeated upwards and downwards. Since as humans we are drawn to the face to initiate our in-build face recognition processes, so our attention will linger first at that level to try to make sense of the lack of face features. Once we realises that there insufficient information available, the focus can then move on. From there on, our focus shifts onto the hair and then onto the upper bodies where the gaps between each figurines disappears to form this mass of objects that appear to work together to generate a repetition pattern and the alignment. In addition there is a variety of colours to keep us entertained enough to start thinking further of whys and more... Well done
As beach houses are concerned, I have favoured this composition. Beach houses in the UK are usually very colorful but very simple in design and features. I think one would easily dismiss a single beach house. Usually what catches our eyesight is the repetition and alignment of it as well as the diversity in colour. But this one had something else. There was a human. There were a number of compositions other then beach houses that also featured a human. I think that this addition onto your composition adds another dimension. It also helps in scaling the objects in the picture. Having this little girl here, in red, in front of the red beach house in perfect contrast with the lawn and algae is just sublime. Well done.

This composition was unique in the way the objects were aligned. It totally through me off as this is not a regular pattern used to display shoes and usually also shoe displays tend to contain a variety of different models. By retaining only one model and using colour to generate the pattern up makes this display more unified and aesthetic. The shadows further added onto the repetition patterns across this display. By placing the shoes in opposite direction, your eye sight could follow line of right shoes and once the attention dropped you returned with the other line of shoes to end up the middle again... this is what caught my attention... you are constantly drawn back onto the middle like an invisible force holding and captivating you. Well done.

I would like to see your best photos showing any objects arranged in a line. The subject is open, but the alignment of the objects must be the main focus of your composition. Images can be in black and white or in colour. I am looking forward to see your compositions.
Meet the judge
I retained this composition not because of the line of pigeons but I considered the line up of lines on the building behind the pigeons that happened to be in front of it. There were a number of entries featuring line ups of plants and wild life. Some of them were stunning. Unfortunately these composition did not fit the brief. An object is defined by having a shape and a form so can be touched and seen but is not living. It is anything manufactured by man or is dead. But am sure some of these composition will rise in the right contest so keep submitting.
