Black and White

I imagine this must have been a tricky shot to get in such bright light. However, the angle of the light on such an unusual object really sets it apart, with great contrast. The clouds in the background don’t distract from the subject and really finish the image off nicely. Well done!

What a fantastic image. Excellent composition with wonderful use of contrast. It also perfectly puts across a story as well as emotions. I love the use of a vignette, it draws the eyes close to the model, but in fact is focused on an empty chair. Very clever and poignant. Fantastic photograph, well done!

Great use of negative space and contrast is what makes this such a great photo. An excellent composition and positioning of the three elements within the picture. All the shades of grey and brilliant enhanced with the use of a long exposure. Fantastic image!

This is an absolutely fantastic picture. This was such a hard competition to judge as the standard was so high. However, I kept coming back to this one. Wonderful use of light on the one side of the models face makes it a great picture for black and white. The position of the models head combined with her staring into the camera makes it very captivating. Great picture, well done one getting 1st place!

I found this image quite striking with the texture from the logs and the model's skin working really well in black and white. Before I had even read the description, it made me think of COVID and the lockdowns. So an image that perfectly conveys a story as well as the photographer's emotions and feelings.
