You've captured a great moment here and it works wonderfully as a black and white image. As interesting as the old pier in the background is, I find myself mentally cropping that top part of the scene out and thinking it could almost be a top 10 photo with just the abstract silhouettes of the birds. As it is it's still highly commended!
The minimalist appeal of this photo contrasts perfectly with the finer details on closer inspection. The straight lines of the road and wall meet the chaos of the tree branches. A parked car with an open door provide a story, as do the many footprints in the snow. The white of the snow draws the eye in to the details and keeps the viewers attention. Fantastic work!
There's nothing quite like sunshine and rain. This image has almost an abstract feel at first glance. The central figure triggers the brain to be prepared for an imminent throw and catch. My mind presses play on this paused scene to watch it in slow motion as the glistening rain drops fall and the football sails closer to the viewer. Well done!
I absolutely love the treatment of this photo. The light and detail on the mountain have an almost studio lighting quality about them. I feel like I could reach into the scene and grab the mountain. My eye play tricks on me, simultaneously knowing the mountain is very large, as well as thinking it's no bigger than how I see it on the screen. Excellent shot!
This image immediately captured my attention. The high contrast and mass of details creates an intriguing scene that invites exploration. The white church is well placed and manages to stand out amongst the other buildings on the hillside. The only thing that kept it out of a potential top 10 spot for me was the technical issues on closer inspection. Whether it's from file compression or over processing I'll admit I can't be sure. It's still a highly commendable photo. Well done!
This image shows you have a great eye for seeing what scenes work well in black and white. The composition is spot on and the playful nature of the leading lines of the stairs drawing the eyes up then back down the slide match perfectly with the subject matter. From what I can see there does seem to be some technical issues with over sharpening and loss of possible details in the clouds. It is still a highly commendable photo!

Composition and balance of contrast is spot on in this image. The bright façade of the building immediately grabs the viewers attention. Then the eye explores the other brighter elements of the stormy clouds and the scattering of highlight details through the trees. You've demonstrated a great understanding of how black and white can enhance the feel of a scene.
Abstract and black and white go so well together. This shot combines a simple pattern of lines that looks good at a macro scale, with detailed features on a micro scale. I find myself exploring the rock walls up close for more treasures, then taking in the image as a whole for its aesthetic beauty. You've demonstrated an excellent understanding of how a black and white photo should look.
A grand scene with a perfect mix of dramatic and ethereal light. The eye is immediately drawn to the sheer cliffs and cloudy sky, then finds a sense of scale in the fog shrouded forest below. It's impossible for me not to reference Ansel Adams with a shot like this, but I think even he would be impressed when seeing this photo.

This is landscape photography stripped back to tone and form. Some of us need a reminder not to forget black and white photography, now that we shoot everything digitally in colour. How does your vibrant landscape respond to the desaturated treatment - what is improved, and what is lost? Landscape photography covers many types of location, but here we’ll focus more on natural, non-urban scenes, which may include some evidence of human habitation and activity.
