It was difficult to pick a winner from so many great shot and but of all of the images in the competition this was the one that stood for me.
Technically, it is superbly exposed and the conditions look brutal.
The close proximity to the tent makes it more of a storytelling image than a landscape one and gives the viewer a great sense of being there so for me was a worthy winner of the camping competition.
Having spent many months camping here and waking up to a view of Mount Everest every morning myself, this image instantly struck a cord with me.
It may have been more obvious to take a shot with the tents closer (I believe access is restricted in any case) but I thought this image captured the vastness and isolation of Everest base camp on the Tibetan side.- especially when you compare to the Nepal side.
For capturing the feeling of one of the spectacular campsites on the planet this one is worthy of a top 10 placing.

This is a fascinating scene, well shot and makes the viewer wonder it is like to be there.
I would like to have commended this image but felt the fact that the top of the main subject was chopped off was too difficult to overlook. Love the shot however and makes want to find out more about this place and the Sami people,
