This image stood out for me as soon as I saw it and it was always a likely winner. A rather mundane scene that has made excellect use of the natural lighting to ensure the cardboard box is the star of the show, as it sits in the "spot-light" outside a disused store. Close enough in for the box to be the subject, but a wide enough perspective to give context. Congratulations on your winning image.

A super black and white image, well composed with the bike an interesting focal point, but not dominating overall. The conversion to black and white has been especially well done, with a great variety in tones and contrasts throughout. Care looks to have been taken to ensure the verticals and horizontals are well aligned, increasing the impact and effectiveness of the image. Well done on your top ten placing.

I love the simplicity of this composition, with an end-on strip of corrugated cardboard running across the frame, which is otherwise basically blank. I like that the strip has not been exactly centrally placed, as it has a slightly less clinical feel than it may otherwise have had. Everything we see is well focused to reveal the corrugated detail, and the simple black and white is effective. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

A rather mundane subject, with edges of sheets of corrugated cardboard filling the entire frame, but I find the image strangely appealing and full of interesting details and patterns for the eye to explore. Everything has been well executed technically; focus, exposure, lighting, composition etc. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.

I love that we have a story unfolding here, as it is left for the viewer to imagine what is in the unmarked box that is so carefully being carried through the city streets. The box looks to be heavy, as the woman looks to be propping up the box-carrier to keep him upright. The high-key processing has been used to good effect, as it ensures the darker tones on the people in the foreground allow them to stand out well from the background. The wet pavements add further interest to the scene too. Congratulations on your third place finish.

A simple subject, well captured. Lighting has been used effectively to reveal the textures, dents and little undulations on the surface of this stack of boxes. The image works well in black and white, as it ensures everything is kept clean and simple. Well done on your top ten placing.

An interesting little selection of boxes, nicely stacked for a great composition. Lighting is good, with a low-key effect, making as much of a feature of the shapes of the shadows as the boxes themselves. Great textures on the surface too for added visual interest. Well done on your top ten placing.

In this contest I would like to see your photos of cardboard. Cardboard is a heavy-duty paper-based product, usually being thick, rigid and resistant to impact. Images can show cardboard being used for any purpose, such as packaging, crafting or tubing for rolls of paper etc. It must be clear that the subject of your image is made from cardboard, with the cardboard as the main focus. Entries can be in colour or black and white. I look forwards to seeing your images.
