Cars with People

Thank you for entering the cars with people contest! There were some excellent entries, but this was the standout winner. There is such a sense of glimpsing different people's lives here - from the passenger to the driver to the woman on the bicycle who is looking over. Beautifully composed!

Thank you for entering the cars with people contest! This really has such a sense of action and intention. I can see you've cropped tight in on the left, probably to remove the car behind it, but I think a little more space to the left and right of the car would have worked well. Perhaps even take a snip off the top and bottom too, to make it a fully square crop. However, nit-picking aside, I really like this image :)

Thank you for entering the cars with people contest! I love the composition, lighting and texture created by the smoke and steam in this image. A colour version of this might be really interesting, but the choice of black and white makes it feel a bit more timeless. Beautifully composed!

Thank you for entering the cars with people contest! What a powerful image! The iconic Mercedes logo diagonally across from the cool guy, while the whole image is at a slant, adding an extra layer of energy and anticipation. Black and white was definitely a good choice. I can imagine the man's jacket was pretty colourful, so would normally have led to keeping it as a colour image, but then the drama of the sky and reflections would have been lost. Focusing on shadow and texture rather than colour, definitely made for a more powerful image!

Thank you for entering the cars with people contest! This was one I kept coming back to. At first I wasn't sure, but with each re-visit it grew on me, and continues to do so! I think if you had cropped it fractionally differently it would have been in my top 3. At the bottom right, the curve of the door really needs a bit more white to the right, and you perhaps could have edited out the top right corner to just have the blue sky without the distraction. Alternatively, bring the whole right side in about an inch so the bottom right corner has his trouser leg run directly to it, and extend the left side of the photo out an equivalent amount. Just my suggestion, but otherwise an excellent photo!
