A wonderful shot, with the green of the door and blue steps slightly jarring against the other colours, but not in a bad way. I love the head-on composition to the architecture, giving us just a little snapshot of part of the building, allowing the viewer to imagine what lies beyond the edge of the frame. I like that you were not tempted to crop out the drainpipes, which some would find an ugly distraction, but for me adds to the scene, giving more of a realustic feel rather than just showing some pretty painted houses. Great control of the colour; bright and bold, but not over-done. Congratulations on your second place finish.
This image stood out as a strong contender for my top spot as soon as I saw it. Use of a telephoto lens has compressed the perspective in a very pleasing way, giving a real sense of there being house upon house painted in contrasting colours, stretching out as far as the eye can see and beyond. The square crop suits the subject, and keeps the scene nice and compact. I love that you have included people in the scene, all looking to be naturally going about their daily life, adding a sense of reality to this wonderful street scene. Congratulations on your winning image.

There were understandably a fair few images of Burano in this contest, with its brightly painted houses and (usually) brilliant blue skies with strong sunlight. What I especially liked about this image however it that although everything is bright and colourful as we would expect, there is a little touch of subtlety, keeping things nicely understated. There is a gentle softness to the image which avoids some of the harshness of the light, and the beautiful reflections in the water of the canal really balance the composition. Beautiful image, well done on your top ten placing.
I love this image, and what really makes the shot for me is the inclusion of the rather comical cut-off jeans hanging on the line at the top edge of the frame. It is a bonus that the colour of the denim contrasts perfectly with the painted wall. Everything is well aligned in this head-on shot, and whilst everything is brightly coloured, it is not oversaturated. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

In this contest I would like to see your colour photos of the exteriors of buildings having walls that have been colourfully painted, however this should not include murals, graffiti and the like. The buildings can be in any location whether urban or rural, and can be modern or older styles of architecture. It would be good if more than one building is included, especially if they are of different colours. I look forward to your entries.

What a beautiful image. That the scene is shot under grey overcast skies for me makes the shot, as all focus goes to the gloriously coloured houses and not distracted by the sky. I love too that it appears to have been shot towards the end of the day when windows and the decorative lights start to be illuminated, adding little pops of golden artificial light. The composition works well, with plenty of space top and bottom to prevent the buildings and reflection looking squashed in. The long exposure has softened the water, bringing a lovely mood of calm. Congratulations on your third place finish.
