While judging photos in my "Hope" contest I was looking at two main aspects: 1. How well it answers the brief. 2. technical aspect of the photo(composition, light, post editing). This photo has it all! It is beautifully lit, well composed and edited. Everyone knows that open hands are a symbol of hope, and these look like hands of an old person who worked hard whole life. The missing thumb just adds to the story. Well done!
