Making Art

We get a real sense of drama and commitment to there art in this image that showcases the passion of both the photographer in frame and the photographer making this wonderful image. The wide angle lens captures lots of details and the exposure is perfect as are the converging lines in the sky which takes our eye to the center of the frame where the waves reveal themselves. Great technique all round and this really shows the commitment made by photographers. I hope they didn't lose the camera in the sea, which I have seen too many times. Very well done.

The secret to the success in this discreet and well seen and made photograph is the subtle way the painting blurs into the background. So lifelike to what the photographer, painter and now us the viewers can see, this stunning painting could be part of the actual landscape. The positioning of the camera could not be bettered and the color tones are well controlled as is the exposure which makes the most of the information within the frame. A very well considered and made photograph of a talented artist at work. Well done.

The technique shown in the drawing is perfectly matched by the skill of the photographer, This well cropped image gives a sense of detail that the artist sees but is never revealed in the image except on paper. The way the shadow of the head falls onto the drawing is lovely whilst still keeping the image clear as the shadow falls shows great technique. Very well done.

So close to the top 10, everything about this photograph is lovely. The stillness, the positioning of the women staring at the paintings with the light just hitting there face. The use of black and white takes away any distractions of color and cancels out any potential color casts from the above lighting. The soft darkening of the edges. My only issue was that the overall image could be a stop lighter. Such a small detail and always subjective. Regardless this is a lovely photograph. Well done.

Such a well observed and constructed image. The timing is perfect and reminds me of the great image of the milk drop by Harold Edgerton.The orange paint drop perfectly balanced against the yellow background is stunning and forms what is an overall great image. A beautifully considered image that really stood out from the crowd. Really well done, so close to my top 10.

The energy and setting of this electric contemporary sculpture within a city is very well seen and photographed. The photographer has not tried to isolate the art work but make the picture within the space the sculpture has been made. The colors come out so well against the muted backdrop and the dynamic between the ridged building and free flowing glass tentacles works really well. The light on the face is lovely and gives us the viewer a sense of what he is actually doing. The exposure is spot on which is not easy given the highlights in the background. It's a strange and evocative image that suits the main subject well. Great capture.

The detail, the intricacy is quite amazing to see in this overhead image. The photograph is beautifully balanced showcasing the artist at work within the wider landscape whilst also showing us the viewer the sense that this incredibly detailed sand art has such a short time span before it is washed up again and the canvas- sand in this case is blank and ready to be started all over again. The photograph is very well exposed and framed. We see how the sand is protected by the rocks and how close the sea is to the art work. We get a sense of scale with the people on the beach and the individual making the sand art. It's incredible to think that this person is making this. Do they do it again and again. They must do to be that good and what a great photographic capture. Stunning all round.

Wonderful close up image that really oozes quality. The strong light and the way the colors match across the frame work really well together and give a sense of harmony within the picture. The out of focus background works perfectly with the sharp details in the section of the canvas we get to see. The hand beautifully bathed in light, steady and assured gives a sense of control, something that the photographer shows equally with this assured composition.. This really stood out within the competition and the details are really well placed across the entire image. A well controlled and technically accomplished photograph right on brief. Very well done.

This really is a lovely photograph that just makes you feel relaxed and calm as you continue to look into it. The subtle colors that flow across the scene complement the warm oranges of the hat the painter wears. Surrounded by wild flowers, this must be such a relaxing place to spend time. We can't see what they are painting but we can take a good guess. Stunning technique and composition make this an all round great image. Well done.

This is a great example of pack mentality. We see it often when driving in beautiful places. Signs that state we are nearing a place of natural beauty, we all stop to take a picture as we have been told to almost. The photographer has made a great image which not only shows us the viewer this rather wonderful scene that the other photographers are all capturing but i do love the individual mannerisms of each person getting ready to make their own picture of this scene. Great framing and a wonderful and humorous take on photography and the behavior of those with cameras. I'd love to see each ones image. Well done

This was one of two images that the photographer submitted on the same theme. This worked for me the best as we get to see the young painter fully at work alongside there subject. The incredible bouquet of colors across the entire frame really draws the eye in. I love the way the arrangement of flowers from the tree are beautifully arranged on the grass below. The painter gives a sense of scale to the space and the outfit they wear with the spotted motifs on complement the tree. The technique is excellent controlling the saturated colors and the formal arrangement is excellent. A great example of a painter and their subject.

This could almost be a miniature set taken from a dolls house, it's so perfect and surreal. The beautifully composed photograph could not be bettered. The exposure and framing are immaculate, the quality of light is perfect across the frame, the placement of the figures coming together to create a wonderful narrative. I love the person posing to be photographed in the bottom left corner and the person on their phone in the opposite corner. What is incredible we as the viewers are confronted with this stunning piece of architecture and nobody in the picture is looking at it. This picture then talks about how we view and look at monuments and art works as this building really is art. Stunning. I could see this framed on a gallery wall. Well done.

A classic composition really elevates this image above so many other entries. Our eye is taken around the frame and we get to enjoy what the painter finds so appealing about this view. The artist at work in the foreground perfectly placed and the individuals dotted around in the background give a sense of scale to the entire vista. The subtle colors are very well rendered from the hues of the greens to the pale sand and diffused blue in the sky. Hard to fault. The photographer has done an incredible job making this image work. Very well done.

I was really attracted to the quiet and calming demeanor this photograph brings to the overall feel of the individual artist at work. The soft subtle black and white tones add to this feeling and we get a sense of the tranquility and isolation that the artist must feel within the space. The highlights and shadow details are perfectly controlled in what is a beautifully seen image by the photographer. Very well done.
