There were so many royal gates in this contest, but for me it is yours that had the biggest impact on me. How well you managed to show the whole corner in such detail and symmetry is wonderful. To stand in front of such gate would leave me breathless - how much detail to show, or better all in one? I'm certain that you have many more photos of this gate at home, but you've definitely entered the best. Congratulations for being my winner.

You obviously found this beautiful example of craftmanship of the highest level at an exhibition or museum. It makes the mind boggle to think for what door it had been made and when. What an appropriate motive for Kew Gardens. What this image lacks on intricacy and difficulty of the metalwork, it more than makes it up in the lighting and overall composition. The cobwebs in this glorious golden light give your image that very special feel and quality. It feels as if you want to touch it very gently.
