Rocky Landscapes

No indication of the location but I think that I am right with my supposition that this photo has been shot in one of the photographer's favorite places in the deserts of New Mexico, probably Bisti Badlands or another similar secret sanctuary... I do love everything in this photo as it is so easy to enter in it: frame, composition, sharpness, light. The choice of black and white gives a special value to the strange shapes of this fragile natural formations of cracked rocks, stools and striped buttes under clouds enhancing the whole display of stones.

This photo striked me at first sight and impressed me by all the qualities I do appreciate: bold imagination, talent to shoot it or compose it, perfect balance in the light suggesting the magic of a night in the desert of Utah... Perfect colours. The tiny man with the torch is the intersting detail showing the mysterious majesty of the mineral nightscape. What is the main subject? Difficult to say, as this milky way would not be so beautiful without the rocks and the intricated shapes of the rocks would not be sublimated that way without the arch of the mily wilky way. And it happens that I hiked many times in the Goblins, so it touches me even more! Thank you for sharing this jewel with us! Congratulations for the first place in my challenge!

Perfect composition, wonderful natural colours for this very classic shot onto the Colorado bend seen from the heitght Dead Horse Point. The fact that sun is poor allows a very soft capture with plenty of delicate details and hues, nevertheless full of character, in the fabulous red sandstone of Canyonlands. The landscape vanishes in the a nice horizon haze, in harmony with the whole impression.of softness contrasting with the harsh rocks. Thank you for your participation and congratulations!

How interesting! No, it is not in Arches NP in Utah, it is in Nambia! We do often see the famous dunes of this country but not often its rocks and they seem to be very fascinating! The massive arch with beautiful textures is like a wall with an eye opening towards towards other roky crest. The immensity of the place is indicated by the tiny person in the hole.
