Some may find images such as this rather dull, however I find it quite fascinating. It is full of shapes, lines and textures, with some wonderful tones and colours. With subjects such as this it can be difficult to know how to compose the shot, what to include and what to exclude. What adds extra interest here is the inclusion of the string, which helps guide the eye across and into the image, which is otherwise dominated by verticals. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.
By photographing this simple scaffolding tower in bright sunlight, the resulting shadows elevate the image to something beyond a mundane shot of construntion apparatus. By shooting at the right time of day, the shadows are long and cast to the side of the structure, creating a great abstract image. The golden yellow backdrop is bright and sunny and accentuates the shadows, and the square crop adds to the impact of the shot. Congratulations on your second place finish.
I love this image, especially the suggestion of a story which is left up to the viewer to decide the narrative. Composition is strong, with the figure sitting on the doorstep positioned between the foreground elements, which draws the viewer into the scene. The scene is quite ordinary but that for me is the appeal, and it certainly does not mean it lacks interest. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.
I love the harsh tones and bold contrasts in this image. The decision to convert the shot to black and white was a good one, as the image becomes more about the shapes and patterns than purely documenting the scene. The composition is unusual but effective, with the scaffolding filling the entire upper half of the frame and the street scene playing out below. The wide separation of the three figures in the street adds a certain tension, increasing the overall impact of the shot. The square crop suits the scene too. Congratulations on your winning image.

This contest is for your photos of scaffolding. These temporary structures are found on the outside of buildings to allow workers to access higher levels during construction, repair or maintenance, consisting of poles and planks, usually made from metal but could be other materials such as bamboo. Images can show scaffolding of any size and in any setting but it must be an obvious feature of the photo. Images can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your entries.

Something about this image really drew me in. It is such an ordinary everyday scene that few would stop to photograph, but in my view it makes for a great image. We are close enough in to see the details, but in being captured from the opposite side of the street, we are far enough away to appreciate the context. The pops of colour from the yellow scaffolding buffers and the bright green frontage lift the scene, and contrast nicely with the plum-coloured facade. Congratulations on your third place finish.
