Shopfronts

This photograph could have been shot on a film location such is the quality of light and framing of the individual. The saturated colours add extra depth and layering to the photograph as does the off centre farming which allows us the viewer to get a sense of what is behind the facade.. A stunning image that adds extra information to the competition brief. A worthy winner.

Sometimes we have to think about what we know to be a shop front. This opens my own small world view and because of the careful and deliberate composition allows me to see something different. It is easy to go in and get a tight crop but with this we need the wider angle of view. We need to see the positioning of these containers next to the larger world they inhabit. This is a clever and well thought out photograph with wonderful use of colour against a grey backdrop. Very well done.

The framing is pertfect. The tight crop makes us the viewer really get into the photograph. The colour variation between the facade and interior works very well and lifts the image beyond its almost monochromatic feel. The expression on the sellers face is priceless and takes us out of the frame with his distant gaze. Its a very well composed image and really makes me want some fish and chips. Great photograph.
