Solitude

This photo grew on me bit by bit, until it became my winner. The composition, the light, the landscape - it all comes together to make it my perfect interpretation for solitude. I find it achingly beautiful and I wish it would be me standing there, a small creature in an endless landscape. Congratulations to the winning entry.

Thank you so much for entering this image, it is such a joy to look at. I cannot paint myself, but are aware of the concentration it takes, not something you want to do while having a chat with someone else! So no wonder this artist is on her own, in her world, at once with the scenery, in order to give it credit. It must be such a rewarding thing to do.

What an intensly private image! Thank you so much for entering it into this competition. This nun is really in a world of her own, with only her god to hear her. The intensity and earnesty of the facial expression are rare and special and I can only hope that she didn't feel disturbed by you taking the photo. The detail of the hands and the rosary with the cruzifix are wonderful.

Perfect stillness, almost palpable. Thank you so much for entering this image in the contest. The minimalistic style lends itself to the theme of solitude - again, less is more. This image seems to slow my breathing down and calm my brain, an antidote to hectic and stress. Such a beautiful image!

Thanks for entering this contest. It is such an endless landscape, the person in the little boat just a dot - a perfect image to show our insignificance in such a mighty universe. You don't have to be in a place like this solitary figure in order to feel this, but it surely helps.
