Great use of perspective here. Rather than depicting the hot air balloons from the vantage point of a spectator on the ground, you’ve put viewers inside a balloon basket and helped us appreciate the magic of a sunrise ride. I went on one myself many years ago; thank you for reminding me of that stunning experience! Well done.
Wow, I have heard of “blue hour,” but never “purple blue hour;” what a beautiful phenomenon! Great job using a longer exposure to capture the ambient light and all of its colors. I also love how you’ve used the mountains to frame the town, which really conveys the vastness of the landscape. Great job!
I love your use of layers here and your focus on the foothills rather than the peaks; the landscape just feels so vast, and the fog and fading ridgelines you’ve captured add to this sense. The scene reminds me of my time in Appalachia, and it brings to mind a Haitian proverb: “Beyond mountains, there are mountains.”
This image is so aesthetically pleasing. I love all the layers of color you have distilled here, as well as the fading sliver of golden hour sun on the mountains. As a former resident of Southern California, where this image was taken, I’m familiar with these special and fleeting “super bloom” landscapes; you’ve done a wonderful job preserving one!

Landscapes that we visit often take our breath away. But managing to capture those views successfully with the camera takes great skill and patience, and usually with a few retouching skills thrown in as well nowadays. Landscapes from around the world are welcomed in this contest, and can be in colour or black and white, with or without people.

Very thoughtful use of aerial perspective here. In taking a bird’s eye view, you’ve created a striking visual commentary about humankind’s impact on the natural landscape, which gets relegated to the edges of the frame. From an aesthetic standpoint I also really like the textures and patterns I can see from above, most notably the tire tracks. Great job!
I love the ambiguity of this image! You’ve photographed this scene in such a way that it’s difficult to tell if we’re looking at something close up or from an aerial perspective far away. Either way, the blue, white, and gray forms combine to create an intriguing and aesthetically pleasing texture. Well done!
I love the perspective you’ve taken in this image. The aerial view really illustrates how humans have transformed the natural landscape into something highly controlled and geometric. I appreciate that you’ve included the road in the image as well, and that you waited for a car to pass by; these are additional reminders of the human imprint. Well done!
