When I saw this picture for the very first time in another competition I just could not stop staring at it. I am very happy to see it again in my very own competition and it is clearly standing out from the rest. The composition and the post processing all line up to support the overall rating of this stunning shot. We photographers often wait very long times for the perfect moment for the perfect shot and you were rewarded today for your patience and eye for the detail. Very well done!
Today, when rating the pictures in this competition, I learned two things. First of all the perfect shot does not need to be perfect in technical terms - as in an expensive camera with even more expensive lenses does not always contribute to the shot of a lifetime - but a picture can be perfect in emotional terms. When I first saw this picture being entered in this competition I immediately knew it is going to make it into my top 10 and I would like to thank you that you reminded me today what photography is all about...its all about the moment. Contracts to both, your spot in the top 10 and this gorgeous boy.
Hello and thank you for entering the competition. I just love this picture hence I am leaving you my commentary. The foreground with the monastery itself is striking sharp, colours and brightness are flawless to retain the monasteries mystical touch.
Have you thought yet about how to get more out of the background? I think that - through de-hazing - you could get some more details out of the trees and also the sky in the back.
That said, the picture is already amazing so you can as well keep it as it is. Very well done!
Hello and thank you for entering the competition. What a striking image. I need to be honest, it was very close to make it into the top 10 as it is not the kind of picture you see every day. Not only did you nail the lighting in the cockpit, all internal details are pin-sharp despite it probably being a bumpy ride when approaching the airport. And the light trails outside add to its dramatic character. You are very lucky to be able to take these kind of pictures, us 'normal' photographers usually only see the planes from the outside, you invited us with this picture to see the whole thing form a different perspective. And for that I would like to thank you.
Thank you very much for joining this competition David. I could not resist to thank you for this photograph in writing as it is one of the few pictures in this competition that reminded me what photography is all about, capturing the perfect moment. And in this case you have not just captured that moment, you also captured the emotions and joyful interaction of both your boy and also your amazing dog. Love the name of your dog btw.
