The Dubai Marina skyline is extraordinary and as such was featured heavily in this competition but what sets this image apart from the rest, is the cinematic mood created by the juxtaposition. In contrast to the sunlit foreground, the distant skyline looks eerie, as if it is chocking in dust. It's like something out of a science fiction film.
They say rules are there to be broken and this is the perfect example. Rule of thirds? Pah! This 50/50 skyline reflection is so sublime it's almost unbelievable. The reflection perfection almost reminds me of the symmetrical butterfly paintings we made at school.
Well done to the artist behind the image. You're a winner!

Many hands have their say in the profile of a town or city’s skyline. Buildings built over many years each add their own element to the view across the rooftops, and that profile can often be extremely distinctive, especially when a signature building or tower is present. Who would have difficulty identifying Paris with the Eiffel Tower on display, or New York with the Empire State Building? But urban skylines of ALL shapes and sizes are invited in this contest.

Congratulations to the photographer for capturing such an interesting and epic scene. The foreground subject is what makes this image for me, as well as the beautiful light but it's an image I feel would be worthy of the top 10 if the composition was slightly tighter.
There is so much visual interest in the centre of the image, that it would be brilliant to see it in more detail, should I be lucky enough to judge such a competition in the future. Best of luck!
The Moscow City skyline is a dizzying cluster of huge skyscrapers that in the beautiful light captured here, would make for an ideal main subject. What makes this photo stand out however, is that it foregrounds the brutalist architecture of the communist era to create a fascinating juxtaposition and one that is emphasised by the busy main road that separates these two worlds.
This is so nearly a timeless capture. It's only the subtle presence of the red double decker bus that anchors this image in the present day, otherwise it could easily be viewed as a painting from a bye-gone century. The panoramic format is an excellent choice, drawing attention to the beautiful houses in the foreground but also perfectly framing the classical puckered skyline beyond.
Wowee! What an incredible scene and what a perfect composition! Typically, it is dawn / dusk / night time shots that make up the top 10 in this subject due to the more colourful light, so a daytime shot usually has to be extra special to make the final cut.
The enormous skyscrapers bursting through the clouds is truly awesome but what really makes this image extra special is the hint of lush, mountainous terrain in the foreground. It creates a wonderful sense of depth and scale. Bravo!
A foggy Dubai skyline shot is one of the holy grails of skyline photography but it is so good to see the same phenomena but in a different city of skyscrapers.
A lesson to other entrants to make use of the opportunity to describe your location and method because knowing this is a drone shot, makes it all the more impressive and unique.
It truly is a wonderful, wonderful image. Well done!
Technically, this is a brilliant photograph. The exposure is glorious, it's pin sharp, and the composition is a treat but forget all that. What makes this such a joy to behold is an unquantifiable sense of magic in the air. Somewhere between the technical excellence, the location and the sense of timing, is an atmosphere that is as charming as it is tangible. Bravo!
Oh wow! This really is a work of magical art. The photographer has done a very impressive job capturing so much detail in lighting conditions that can be quite tough. The moonlit rooftops in the foreground are just a dream but the only reason this just misses out on the top 10 is that is feels just little bit to HDR. Nevertheless, it's a wonderful creation.
