Tracks That Make You Wonder

This was a very interesting interpretation of my contest, a paleontolist’s dream, and this photo caused me to stop to consider several times. It also has very pleasing patterns. For these reasons, I am giving this one a commendation. Thank you for entering my contest.

It was a special track to find on your walk, and I paused to wonder about this many times. Clearly a hawk who kindly left a feather behind to announce that he was there. But why was her there? What do the tracks tell us? Was he after some prey? I don’t see any tracks of what it may have been, but I studied this photo at length. Definite worthy of a top ten position in my opinion.

A very pleasing photo! The composition is beautiful, as is the choice of black and white. The sole skier making the his tracks is offset by multiple other ski tracks. Is he alone making all of those trails, or is the ski hill full of unseen skiers? I’ll never know, but I’ll wonder.

This was a rather difficult challenge to judge. The three main points I focussed on were: Are the tracks clear and well photographed? Is the photo aesthetically pleasing? Did the photo make me stop and wonder about what happened before the photographer came along? I went back and forth several times, but finally decided on this one. I love the beauty of the aloneness in this setting, yet there was clearly another living creature high in the rocks and snow. I stopped to wonder about what occurred here. Congrats on creating my first choice for this contest.
