This is a remarkable image of Parry's primrose high on a rocky mountain peak. It shows off the wildflowers in their environment so that the viewer can see it is an amazing place for them to grow. The bright flowers and leaves are a huge contrast to the gray sky and mountains which makes them the star of the photo. First, thank you to everyone who entered this contest! There were so many beautiful photos, however this landscape stayed with me throughout the contest.

The pop of color from the wildflowers leads the eye to the dramatic peaks in the Dolomites of northeastern Italy. The image is beautifully composed, with lovely light, from the flowers to the dramatic sky, and everything is sharp.

There were many wildflower meadow images, and this one captured my attention with its natural look and varied flowers. The yellows and blues beautifully offset the bright red of the poppies, and the eye is drawn to the in-focus poppy at the center. This slightly mysterious image caught my eye immediately. The single flax flower stands out from the cool green and blue hues of the background. Flax are difficult to capture as the slightest breeze moves them rapidly but this flower is still, and sharp. With almost everything else softly blurred, this is an artistic shot. We don't always think of wildflowers on a beach but this is a beautiful image that demonstrates that they can thrive in that environment.
