If the name of the wind farm is anything to go by, this looks a perfect location to site wind turbines, as I can certainly imagine the winds whipping across the flat landscape and being harnessed to produce electricity. The composition of the image works well, with the central lane leading into the frame, and the row of trees on the left balancing out the turbine on the right. The greys and greens create a certain mood, and despite being a scene of ordinariness, it is no less effective as an image. Congratulations on your second place finish.
I love the simplicity of this image with its balanced composition, and that it is not trying to be anything other than what it is. The scene captured from the other side of the street shows what looks to be an old gas station, sitting quietly beside the towering wind turbine, set on an area of flat landscape. I love that no attempt has been made to woo the crowd raters by adding a dramatic or sunset sky as so many tend to do, instead the cloudless plain sky adds to the sense of mundanity in the scene. Understated simplicity at its best. Congratulations on your winning image.

In this contest I would like to see your photos of windmills and wind turbines. Your images could show a traditional windmill that uses the power of the wind for mechanical power, such as those used to turn grinding stones or water pumps. Alternatively you could show modern wind turbines that use the power of the wind to generate electricity. You can show the windmills and wind turbines either within the landscape or showing close up details. Images can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your entries.

A striking image of this sturdy stone windmill. The conversion to black and white has been done well with great tones and contrasts, and really suits the subject. The billowing clouds stand out nicely against the sky, and the dark stone set into white mortar/plaster really makes the patterns and textures of the windmill pop. Well composed to fit all of the structure into the frame with a little breathing space, and a small glimpse of the surrounding landscape too. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.
Whilst these attractively shaped windmills are the obvious subject, I really like that we see a good overview of the landscape in which they are located, leaving ths viewer in no doubt as to why this setting was chosen to build these structures. Lighting is good but not over-processed, looking to be captured at the beginning of the day with some low mist lying in the valley in the distance. Although shot with a drone, we get a view that still feels accessible to all, as it looks like it could easily have been shot from a slightly higher vantage point in front of the windmills where we too could get this view. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.
This close-in angled view of an old windmill really caught my attention. It can be very difficult when shooting on an angle to avoid the imaged looking clichéd or just plain wrong, but here it works and makes a great composition, with the subject being obvious but having a slightly sbstract look. Plenty of detail throughout in the weathered grey wood gives much for the eye to explore. The limited colour palette works well too. Congratulations on your third place finish.
