Great contest!

I find this image to be whimsical and delightfully fun! I love the way the vines frame the face in the artwork. If the leaves had a sharper focus, this image would have been a a better choice for me. It is definitely among my favorites!

They say a picture tells a thousand words. This is a compelling image which causes me to ask questions. The photographer did not provide much information for context. The droplets of water are so fresh that some are still on top of the vine - was this naturally occurring or was it sprayed on? The spider web looks new, where is the spider? The detail of this photograph is exquisite.

The tight spiral of the tendril is striking in this image. The title states the tendril is in the rain, but with no background imagery nor any details provided in the narrative, it is difficult to know if it was actually raining. The water droplets are reflecting light and color.

This perspective is really different. The light on the leaves is stunning. I am curious about how this image might have turned out if the photographer had taken one more step to the left. The bench on the right would have been a nice addition to have fully in the frame. The statuary in the center would then have been off-center, which would have also made the image more unique. The photographer captured some amazing shadows here, both in the foreground and in the middle. What a marvelous garden to visit and photograph!

The vines are clearly the subject of this photograph. The sharp focus of the leaves in the foreground contrasted with the softness of the the leaves which are out of focus in the background make this a pleasing composition. The colors of autumn are beautifully displayed in this image.

The vines framing and spilling down into this picture are incredible. I love the perspective of the photographer: capturing the golden hues of the sunlight at the top of the frame as well as beyond the doorway on the left side. I see some blur in the foliage which adds authenticity to the image. I would have liked more narrative information about the photo from the photographer. The details in this image are clear and there are so many of them to look at, what an amazing location!

This image is a perfect example of framing. The vines frame the entire photo. The gate frames the arch and the door, which is framed by windows. The photo is well cropped. I wish the photographer had provided more details about the image. The photographer captured the light very well.

The muted color palate of this image evokes calmness. Though I would have liked more narrative from the photographer to describe the image, I appreciate the vine-covered post in this photo taking up the left third of the image space with cobwebs and more vines and berries in the middle. The foggy background gives the image an ethereal feeling.

The straight upward perspective captured by this photographer is quite striking! The vines climbing up are a spot-on interpretation of the brief. I wish there were more narrative details. The moss growing on the tree trunk gives added texture to the image. Everything is in focus. The lighting is captured well also. This is a fantastic smartphone image - keep aiming for the more dramatic perspectives!

In this image, we simply have some bars and some ivy. It is a clean shot, in focus. What makes this image stand out for me, is the perspective of the photographer. The angled shot is more compelling to my eye than one shot straight and centered.

This is a truly unique perspective. What a place for vines to grow! The light and shadows add interest to the image. The concrete and metal create leading lines which draw the eye. Narrative details would have given some context to the image, which can be quite helpful. Cell phone cameras have improved so much over the years! I would encourage the photographer to continue seeking out the unique perspectives as this image nearly made it to my top 10 group.

I appreciate the perspective choice of the photographer, showing us the grassy hill on the left and the wisteria on the right. I would have appreciated more narrative context from the photographer. Most of the elements work together well in this composition, but there is one out of focus spot in the bottom right corner. I like the curved leading line of the fencing structures, which lead the eye to the mountains. Isn't it amazing what great images our smartphone cameras can produce?

This contest is for your photos of climbing vines; any plants that twist, twirl and intertwine as they climb up a means of support toward the sky. Try to find an interesting angle and some great light to capture your images of climbing vines. Other objects may also be included but the vines should be the focus of the photo.

Sometimes, less is definitely more, as evidenced here. This image is simple, crisp, and in focus. The vines at the top make a nice frame. I wish for more narrative details from the photographer, because the image is stunning! The beautiful red colors are captured perfectly!

This photo is appealing for many reasons. The window being slightly off-center is a unique choice. The vines framing the outside of the window is also a different perspective. The diagonal zig-zag line of the stairs gives a feeling of movement. The dirty window panes reflecting the light and colors adds authenticity to the image. The light fixture is eye-catching in this composition and exquisitely detailed, but blocks the view of the courtyard. I wonder if the photographer might have found a different angle, rather than putting the light fixture in the lower third of the frame? The background being only slightly out of focus works here.

I applaud the bold choice of the photographer to capture this image from the bottom looking straight up! I like that the vines fill a little more than 2/3 of the frame. While there is some blurring, the leaves are generally in focus in the middle.

The low camera gives this image a unique perspective. The vines look amazing in this photograph, but they do not appear to be the focus of the image. Thank you for adding context to your photo with the narrative section. The framing of the buildings encloses the space and the leading lines draw the eye toward the middle of the photograph. The colors are captured beautifully in this photograph. Your photo makes me want to visit this place!

This image is in focus and well composed. The contrast of the green leaves against the background of the deep red wall behind them is pleasing. The photographer elected to have the lamp on the right rather than in the center, which adds character to the image.

The vines are in focus and they frame the artwork well. I wish there were more narrative details from the photographer to give me more information about this image. I would like to know where it was taken and the story behind the image. The photographer cropped the image well.
